NuxFan09
Finally, we get a new matchup for the Wolves than the usual suspects (Rivermen, Admirals, IceHogs). The Wolves will be in Hamilton face the Bulldogs (Montreal Canadiens farm team) at 4:30 PST today. The Bulldogs are last in the entire AHL with a 15-23-6 record and their goaltending, as I understand it, is pretty awful. Their best in net is Cedrick Desjardins, who has a 7-12-2 record and a 2.94 GAA and .904 Save%. It'll likely be him in net today for them. Man, we're half an hour away from puck drop and there is still no preview on the Wolves website for the game. I've been really disappointed with their website in that regard, since the pre-game stories are usually helpful to get info on likely starting goalies, scratches etc. I do know that Climie was supposed to be ready for tonight's game so I have a hunch we'll see him in net tonight for the Wolves. NuxFan09
Matt Climie does indeed get the start for Chicago tonight, as per Jason Shaver (Wolves play by play man). Miller - Friesen - Desbiens to start up front and Matheson - Connauton to start on defense.
NuxFan09
Michael Davies scores on a breakaway to give the Wolves the early lead! 1-0 Wolves.
NuxFan09
And Connauton follows that up with a quick snap shot and a goal. Seems the Bulldogs goalie Desjardins wasn't even set for it. 2-0 Wolves.
NuxFan09
Note: Adam Polasek finally draws back into the lineup again for the Wolves tonight. Surprisingly, it's Hunt who is sitting in favour of Polasek. Full lineup: Sweatt - Gordon - Haydar Arcbibald - Longpre - Rodin Miller - Friesen - Desbiens DiDiomete - Kattelus - Davies Joslin - Andersson Matheson - Connauton Vandermeer - Polasek Climie
NuxFan09
The Wolves are really controlling the play here. Lot's of shots on Desjardins. Vandermeer now in a lengthy scrap with Kyle Hagel.
NuxFan09
Connauton took a big hit, was slow to get up, and just made his way back to the bench. Seems to be okay though.
NuxFan09
2 on 1 for Archibald and Rodin and Rodin got a good shot off but it was stopped by Desjardins.
NuxFan09
Haydar just had his stick slashed and broken in half on a 4 on 3 rush and no call was made. Another shining moment for the AHL refs.
NuxFan09
Delayed penalty coming to the Wolves. It'll be Haydar going to the box for elbowing. Bulldogs just got a breakaway during the delay but it was stopped by Climie.
NuxFan09
You can see why the Bulldogs are the worst team in the AHL. Barely anything created on that PP and an easy kill for the Wolves.
NuxFan09
End of 1st. 2-0 Wolves. Shots: 12-5 Wolves 1st period scoring: CHI Davies 6 (DiDiomete, Polasek) 2:51 CHI Connauton 3 (Kattelus, Desbiens) 3:
Smashian Kassian
Not watching. Nice to hear Polasek's back in the line-up. Aswell nice to see Rodin in the top 6. How has he (Anton) looked?

NuxFan09
Side note: It's tough to get a good read on player performances by listening to the radio in general, but it's especially tough with the guys that make the call for Wolves games. Don't want to criticize them too much, as they're good at what they do, but they talk A LOT so there isn't as much actual play-by-play as you'd like, more stories and thoughts out loud by the colour guy. Another odd man chance involving Rodin but the Bulldogs defenseman was able to prevent a sure goal for Rodin into a wide open cage. Rodin is definitely improving, that's for sure. NuxFan09
ANOTHER odd man chance, this time featuring Miller and Sweatt. Miller had the puck and decided to take the shot. Desjardins made the save.
Smashian Kassian
Not sure as I'm not watching either, just listening to the radio feed. Haven't heard his name much outside of the 2 on 1 chance with Archibald.
