i love the way Ballard and Tanev have been playing but i would really like to see what Barker can do. One game vs someone outside the division, just to see if he can be a good call up. Because if in the playoffs say Tanev or Ballard gets injured and Barker is plugged in without having got a look, then plays awful and loose the game we wont be in a good position. I think a game soon to plug in Barker would be a good idea. maybe vs Phoenix on the 26th. what do you think? Also what was the point of signing Vandermeer if we just send him to the AHL and never use him. i would much rather have called up Connauton in case of injuries in that case.

Barker isn't great defensively. I want to see what Vandermeer does when it comes to fighting.

Alberts is next on the depth chart. He could definitely use a game or two. But Ballard and Tanev continue to grow as a pair, and the top-4 are just rounding into shape. The regulars need to play.

Yeah expect Alberts to be called up before Barker, but that said Barker is listed on our roster and I would be surprised if he didn't get a call up or two on back to back nights against an eastern team in the rtegular season.

Tanev and Ballard are playing too well to be taken out of the lineup...other than an injury to any of the top six, I doubt you'll see either Alberts or Barker inserted into the lineup anytime soon.

Season is too short to be inserting guys in to see what they could do especially when the players they would replace is playing well. If we were in an 82 game season, for sure...you'd love to see what guys like Barker, Vandermeer and Alberts would do.

If Vandermeer makes in into the lineup (BTW, he's the only one that is subject to a call up as Alberts and Barker are already with the big club as non-roster players), it'll probably be as a LW...but he would have to displace Volpatti who is playing well on the fourth line.

Alright, hockey genius disguising as VicNuckleHead09, I'll bite. What are we missing? Please, enlighten all of us who are so ill-informed. I'd love to hear from the Great hockey genius who has complete clue with what is going on with this season.

I saw what Barker can do when he was with Chicago, Minny, and Edmonton. It isn't much. He kinda stinks.

And you're only partially right. They are not "non-roster players". Just because they have been healthy scrathces so far does not mean they are not on the roster.

Why?

Does he have to clear waivers to be put down, or is he just so unimpressive that the Wolves don't even want him?

I do think getting some of these "extra" guys in some game action at some point this season is a good idea. I hate the idea of seeing an injury and having a guy that hasn't played in real game action in close to 9+months having to come in. Throw Alberts in for a game against Columbus and do the same for Barker at some point.

I would also like to see what Barker can do, but now isn't the time.. He'll have to wait a few games, after Tanev scored in OT he is guaranteed a few more games at least! :P

Coaches work with them daily. they know what they can do. Obviously the status quo is doing fine without them. Unless injury, they won't be playing for a while. Pleasantly surprised to see tanev and ballard playing better than garrison so far.

Is this another agent (ala Liut) trying to get playing time for his players??

It would have been nice to have #6 Salo still on the point this year.........

All our D-men are playing great right now, however you want to make pair the lines, vancouver has the 6 clear cut players who are getting it done.. Why screw with that? If one of them gets injured then Vandemeer, Alberts and Barker get a shot to prove their worth. Until then, none of those three deserve a shot.

Why Gillis dumped a tough, honest pro like Aaron Rome for a flake like Barker is beyond me. Of course I have no idea why he dumped Sulzer for a flake named Gragnani either.

Rome wasn't "dumped". He was a free agent who signed elsewhere for more money than he was worth here. And what classifies Barker as a "flake"?

It was based on Gragnani's excellent playoff performance the year before, and the fact that AV never used Sulzer.

Oh sorry, I keep forgetting now that we are almost a quarter of the way done with the season that they are 'here'. Please give me a clue as the only clue I can go by is their combined total of 0 minutes of ice time and there total minutes of even having to put on a Canucks Jersey this year. I wish I had your knowledge and insight.
