What has happened to Nathan Gerbe?

Not that I expect the diminutive 5’5 180 pounder to be tearing it up but still no points in seven games?

Sources say don’t be shocked if Sabres GM Darcy Regier moves or at least attempts to move Gerbe in the near future.

Gerbe has been relegated to fourth line duty where with his size he’s hardly making any sort of relevant impact. He’s playing 9 minutes on a good night but for the most part is seeing 6-7 minutes of ice a night. This guy isn't a fourth line player and I'm not so sure what the thought process is here.

The return of Patrick Kaleta (neck), who was cleared to return today, could make Gerbe expendable. The former Boston College standout scored 16 goals two-years ago before seeing his total reduced to six last season.

The Sabres are currently sitting in last place in the Northeast Division and word is Regier is on the phone exploring his options.

Wow, pretty quick decline considering how he burst onto the scene.

Montreal should be interested.

Would fit well with Gionta, Plekanec & Desharnais

What people fail to mention is that Buffalo is doing pretty bad this year.

With the emergence of Hodgson coming in, Gerbe was ultimately affected and placed in a position where he cannot succeed.

Which team is looking for centres?

Gerbe can also play LW well IIRC.

Feaster doesn't need help. He has expertly crafted his team to both win now and in the future.

Lol it would be like that old Nintendo world hockey game where you make up your team of small speedy guys, medium sized medium skill guys or fat slow tough guys. Just no medium guys allowed

I wrote this exact post in the other thread but I'll post it here since I had put Gerbe as a possible 'throw-in' (or maybe Minnesota can send someone back the other way?)

What about Matt Cullen (MIN) for Alexander Sulzer (BUF)/or Adam Pardy?

Cullen seems like a pretty decent faceoff guy for a team that needs FO help.

Alexander Sulzer is a more offensive type defenceman or Pardy is much more defensive and could provide some grit for a Minnesota team that can capitalize on size.

Maybe Buf can put Gerbe in the trade but could Gerbe succeed in the West? He might ignite someone like Setoguchi who isn't doing too great atm.

Small guy with 0.5 ppg but this year 0 points in 8 games. When he is on the ice the team gets much more shots against than shots for. No thanks.

Can't see that he has much value, not a fantastic scorer, doesn't really play in power-plays or penalty kills, feisty but not overwhelmingly so...
Maybe the Flames could use him, they only have three natural centers, the Blue Jackets could always use a touch more offense. Really, there aren't a lot of teams that need a 2nd-3rd line decent but not dynamic center. Buffalo is probably gonna be stuck with him.

If by lottery draft you mean Stanley Cup, then yes. He has proven his nay-sayers wrong who say he needs a rebuild by competing hard with a veteran squad who are ready to win every year. If it wasn't for those horrible losing streaks, they easily would have made the playoffs.

Are you? Did some one kick you in your sarcasm detectors? I like the addition to his post, if it wasn't for the losing streaks they would have made the playoffs. It rings of CDC great quotes like "if you take away his three hat-tricks he really only score twentyone goals" or " if you take out those five shutouts, his numbers are worse". Nicely done.

QUOTE (ephysdad @ Oct 26 2008, 09:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Or then of course there's always the Ferry

Also,
I'm putting together a list of the criteria to be a "real" Canuck's fan. So far I have this:

1. I cheer for the Canucks, whatever happens.
2. I never say anything bad about the Canucks.
3. I know the difference between "real" fans and posers just by how they post on the CDC or where they sit at GM Place.
4. I wouldn't dream of leaving a game before it ended, even if it meant missing a train, ferry or a threesome with the wife and her hot best friend?
5. I make 10+ posts a day and I have over 10,000 posts on the CDC, so my Canuck "street-cred" is huge. Go away noob!
6. No one F's with me. I train in MMA. I'm really tough. I'll curb stomp yo' donkey.
7. I make a tonne of $$$$.
8. I'm witty.
9. If it meant missing a game, I wouldn't study for a midterm.
10. I roll with a guy who has a wicked car.
11. I like to post "source?" a lot.

Gerbe will still be in Buffalo. Some Sabres fans actually prefer Gerbe over Hodgson. Then again, they do have Grigorenko and there isn't space for Gerbe as they also have Ennis..
