Jordan Schroeder = Cliff Ronning?

I compared Schroeder to a more physical, two-way version of Patrick Kane. Actually, yeah Ronning isn't a bad comparison. Both undersized guys with heart and determination, plus skill. I'm impressed with Schroeder so far - now, if you just pair him with a big guy like Kassian, they'll do fine.

I think its having Schroeder who is playing much like a younger Kesler, but less physically intimidating. He's fast, can play a 2 way game, and has offensive skill; but looks for his team mates. And having the 8? months off to train and finally get his back right. He deserves a bounce back. But, Schroeders no Ronning yet,.

I'd like to think that Schroeder can be something like Ronning.

This being said, the season Ronning arrived here from St. Louis (he was 24) he scored 20 goals, and he had also scored 24 goals for the Blues a couple of seasons prior to the trade.

Hopefully he can continue to improve at faceoffs, stays defensively reliable, and can put up something close to 20 goals per season. And if he could learn to be comfortable playing wing (should that be necessary), that might be useful as well.

regards,

G.

Cliff bled Green and Blue since the time he was old enough to skate.

Jordan.Not.

Cliff was a prolific goal scorer and set up man in an era where your head was taken off if you couldn't skate or mind your pints and quarts.

Cliff had an 85 point season with the Canucks.56 assists in 79 gp.

Jordan should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Cliff at this stage.

Give it a rest for about five years and then come back and tell us where Jordan ranks alongside Cliff.

Better than Linden,Courtnall and Bure and still the Canucks franchise insulted and degraded their very best:

Both the Canucks and in particular Ronning rectified their poor regular season showing in the playoffs. The team went on an unexpected playoff run, finishing just one goal shy in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Ronning's 5 goals and 15 assists during that post season may be overshadowed by the likes of Bure, Trevor Linden, and Geoff Courtnall, but Ronning was a significant contributor to that magical post season run. The hometown hero added boyhood spunk to his already established reputation as a playoff warrior. John Davidson, colour man on the MSG/ESPN television broadcasts, was so impressed that he called Ronning "one of the top three forwards in the finals, perhaps Vancouver's best." In a match up that featured the likes of Bure, Linden, Mark Messier, Adam Graves and Alexei Kovalev, that is an impressive compliment.

The Canucks fortunes sagged after the magical run, and soon the team was dismantled. One of the first players to leave, surprisingly, was Cliff Ronning. Ronning admitted he would have taken a discount to stay in Vancouver, but was insulted by the Canucks contract offer.
