Sucks that Denmark and Germany didn't qualify for the mens.. Denmark was suppose to qualify but they lost in the tournament that they were suppose to dominate just recently

Group A is actually stacked. Group B looks pretty easy, confident we can beat the Finns, and Norway + Austria should be easy.

Woah Slovenia made it!! Congrats!! Anze Kopitar FINALLY gets to participate in the Olympics, congrats to him!!!!

Would have liked to see Hansen and Jensen play together in the Olympics.

Oh well, looks like it's the Sedins, Edler, Kesler, and possibly Schneider.

Now let's just hope the NHL, NHLPA and IIHF can come to an agreement so that NHLers can play.

Edit: Here's the story for those that can't follow the link...

Austria backed into the 2014 Sochi Olympics with a loss on Sunday, as reported here. Germany, which was ranked 10th heading into the qualifier, fails to make the 12-team tournament for the first time.

What the groups will look like in Russia, listed in seeded order:

Group A: Russia (1), Slovakia (6), USA (7), Slovenia (18)

Group B: Finland (2), Canada (5), Norway (8), Austria (15)

Group C: Czech Republic (3), Sweden (4), Switzerland (9), Latvia (11)

The format will be the same as it was in Vancouver 2010: The four teams with the best records (each of the three the group winners plus the best second-place team) advance to the quarterfinals. The remaining eight teams will play a qualification game to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.

Real excited for Japan's women's team. They are being coached by Carla McLeod who won 2 golds with Canada at the 06 and 10 Games.

Too bad for Germany and Denmark on the men's side though.

Does anyone mind to explain the basic rules to pass the preliminaries? (Sorry it has been a while)
