ro0
Sure, take the original Olympic sport out, but keep jokes like speed walking (!) in. Guys like Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Jake Hager (the latter two from NCAA) - I hope they'll speak up against this stupidity.
hudson bay rules
Wow, wrestling goes all the way back to 708 B.C. I wonder if they even wore a kit back then

GodzillaDeuce
clearly not enough folding chairs are being utilized at the olympics
Bang Bang Boogie
Wrestling is a real sport. Riding horses and ice dancing is not.
avelanch
So they get rid of wrestling and yet speedwalking stays? Plus, they're adding golf? Olympic style wrestling is better than golf. Now wrestling has to apply to be included again facing competition like baseball, karate, squash, wakeboarding and wushu. I had to google what wushu was. And baseball? That's just giving the US another medal. Wrestling deserves to be back in. Heck, it didn't deserve to leave.
theminister
Personally, I'm old fashioned when it comes to Olympic summer sports. All original events had a military application, albeit historic, and I think they should keep it that way. Running, throwing, jumping, wrestling, sparring, swimming, and yes even equestrian. n00bxQb
So Greco-Roman wrestling, an original Olympic sports that's been a part of the Olympics since the days of the Greek and Roman empires ... is out of the Olympics? There aren't enough facepalms in the world ...
Heretic
" 'Decision is not final' Wrestling will now join seven other sports in applying for inclusion in 2020. The others are a combined bid from baseball and softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu. They will be vying for a single opening in 2020. The IOC executive board will meet in May in St. Petersburg, Russia, to decide which sport or sports to propose for 2020 inclusion. The final vote will be made at the IOC session, or general assembly, in September in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is extremely unlikely that wrestling would be voted back in so soon after being removed by the executive board. "Today's decision is not final," Adams said. "The session is sovereign and the session will make the final decision."" ------------------------- A travesty to say the least... How is it that Boxing and Judo, and Karate and Taekwondo stay? They are "fighting" sports as well. Table tennis is in - why? Yes...it's fun - but Olympic? Good grief...

Salmonberries
you didn't know what wushu is? do you know what form of wushu it is? taolu (performance) or sanda (sparring), or is it both? man, I'd LOVE to see it in the olympics.
Twilight Sparkle
olympic wrestling has always been an event actually worth tuning in to. not sure if they're not fond of people groping each other or what kind of brain-dead decision these people came up with, but wrestling involves a lot of psychology that's just fun to watch. you take that out, you lose viewers, not like the summer olympics had many viewers to begin with
