another young player coming out of entry level demanding the world, hopefully the PK subban contract is more the norm for players coming out of entry level and not oreilly trying to hit a homerun on 1 good year.

55points on the first line is tyler bozak type production i sure wouldnt pay him 4.5-5million/year for any longer than 2 years. Oreilly brings a lot to the table in other ways but his contract demands at this point are just ludicrous.

Agreed. If the GMs received any feelings of solidarity between them from the lockout you can bet they applauded the Mtl GM for standing tall. Hopefully, the GM of whoever O'Reilly gets traded to stays put as well. This could start continue a bad trend, which could affect us with Gaunce and Jensen and Kassian in a couple years time.

How does this sound?

To Washington: Ryan O'Reilly

To Colorado: Jeff Schultz/Marcus Johansson, Tom Wilson, 2013 2nd
  • 0

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Not worth it for Washington. They really can't afford to give up what little talent they have on D.

Colorado wont mind trading with us, since it wont affect them in the standings anyways :towel: .

Considering the cap situation, however, I don't see how we can do it without moving considerable cap or resigning ourselves to a buyout - I don't think they're interested in another goalie and I don't think we want to give them one.

Anyone thinking the Canucks will acquire O'Reilly is out of their minds. It would mean trading Kesler (assuming he waives his NTC). Won't happen.

he wont get traded here unless we severely over pay but if he did, he would play 3rd line center for our hopefully deep playoff run as well as pk and pp time. or we throw him on kesler wing and see what he can do as a winger

But its slim to not chance to happening as someone will give up a player and top prospect for what? a 1 year proven 55 point guy who played huge minutes on a piss poor depleted avalanche team? lets see him do it a bit more often before we start overpaying. the team that trade for him still needs to sign him

dont get me wrong would like to have him, but not at a high asking price

Watch Buffalo make a move to acquire him.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

If I were Winnipeg I would do Schiefele straight up for ROR

I'm from Winnipeg and a big Scheifele fan.

I would lose all bladder control from pure excitement if that deal happened.

Plenty of teams in the east that have the assets and desire to get him.

- Toronto
- Winnipeg
- New Jersey
- Washington
- Islanders
- Florida

That remains to be seen. Just because Scheifele wasn't immediately rushed in doesn't mean Couturier is automatically the better player. I'd much sooner have Scheifele developing as the go-to guy on the Colts than have him play 3rd or 4th line minutes.

It's far too soon to say who is better, come back in 5 years and we'll see who's the better player. If I'm betting I'm going with Scheifele.

Did Mark Scheifele shut down Evgeni Malkin in the playoffs? I agree Scheifele is a good player but Couturier is by far the better one.

Buffalo makes the most sense for O'Reilly. They have the prospects, picks and even the wingers to get him. O'Reilly would fit as a top two centre on the Sabres as well.

Buffalo would be a scary team down the road with Hodgson and O'Reilly as their top 2 centers.

I really don't think a lot of you have watched O'Reilly play. He was unreal last year. Not a franchise player but his trade value is much higher than Lu's and just a litter below what Nash's was.

Is that Schroeder + Jensen, or is Gaunce ok???

No this is not 2 week old news, everyone expected O'Reilly to be re-signed in Colorado by now. Also, according to insider trading, asking price is a roster player + top prospect

Actually, with Eric Johnson out;

How about Ballard + Gaunce???

Edit; leaves us looking for a young right handed D man in return for Lou... Lou for Orlov and Brouwer or Petrovic, Kovalev and tswap 2014 1sts...

Buffalo is flush with centres.

Not really. Hodgson is their only true top-six centre. Ennis is more suited to be on the wing.

Something along the lines of Stafford, Pysyk and a 2nd could possibly work.

They're asking for a roster player and a prospect.

I believe Johnson is injured right now, could be long term so here we go:

Ballard and Schroeder for O'Reilly, maybe throw in picks to even it up a bit.

As good as Schroeder has been, O'Reilly is a big physical center who would be amazing in the playoffs.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Burrows - Kesler - Booth
Raymond - O'Reilly - Hansen
Higgins - Lapierre - Malhotra

Great depth at center now, and we get a lot bigger.

The problem I personally would have with that is that it's a basic disregard for all of Schroeder's efforts. Hard working 1st rounder who has paid his dues and has never complained and then swapping him for a guy who is holding out for a contract, about 25% of the way into a season.

RO'R in a Canucks jersey would be great, I don't know if it is a Gillis type move however, to move a guy with strong character for one that may or may not be of that kin.

But then again, I don't really know O'Reilly, so if Gillis sees something positive in his 'intangibles' then disregard all I have said..

Considering next year's cap and how much he is asking for, we have to move a big contract (hint: Lu) which I'm not sure if COL would take on since they won't resign ROR even though they have the cap space. It will be hard mathematically for both teams.

Don't they look at their place in the standings? They need to sign ROR.

I wonder how O'Reilly would like playing behind Kes and Hank, might have another situation here for people to bitch about.

I really can't see us trading for him. The logistics of it are tough to deal with. If your colorado the on;y way you trade him to the one of the top three teams in the west that also happen to be in your division (Vancouver) is if you get a kings ransom. We'd have to give up something like Jensen, a high draft pick and a good roster player. People saying Sauve + booth/raymond are out of their minds. If your colorado would you take that?
