Meh...

I'm using this thread, as it is properly labelled. Also, I have no idea who Toakarski is.

I just saw the other thread with more replies and I'm going to use this thread since it was made one minute prior.

I don't know much about either of these players but OP seems to be a Montreal fan. Could you provide more insight on this trade?

Good trade for Montreal...Dustin has some potential.

CD already has some history with Tampa.. played there two years ago (haha and put up unreal stats in the 120 minutes he played... 96.8 SVP). He's floated around but proven to be a good depth goalie..

Tokarski was drated in 2008 and hasn't been good in his small NHL 'stints'. Dustin has a good record (18-8-4) with Syracuse this year, but his individual stats aren't that good (90.0 SVP & 2.46 GAA). I wonder if Syracuse will do even better with Desjardins.

So, he's gone from Blackhawks training camp, to Hamilton, to the ECHL, back to Hamilton, up to Montreal, BACK to Hamilton, traded to Tampa, signed with Colorado, sent to Lake Erie, back to Montreal, now traded again to Tampa.

What a resume.

It was before lindback. Stevie said we would rather find and develop our own good young goalie

Isn't varlamov theirs too?

Drafted by Washington. Never has had affiliation with Tampa.

Isn't anders lindback just a temporary candidate (some consider) until that Russian goalie Andrei Vasilevsky prospect develops?

With Vasilevsky in the system TB probably didn't think they'd need Tokarski.

If this is true than this trade reminds me of TO trading Rask because they had Pogge...

I'm a happy camper. Good young goalie prospect is what Montreal needed, yes they have Price, but they'll need a steady back up for the future.

Agreed. I went to same school in same small town as Tokarski. Great goalie (although I haven scored on him a few times in minor hockey ::D)

Great trade for Montreal but could be awhile before he gets a real shot with Price in net....but you never know 1 injury and he could get his shot

Dustin is a friend of mine.

Tokarski asked for a trade. Yzerman told him last season he would be playing in Tampa after his playoff run with Norfolk. So basically he owed him one. Dustin, wanted a chance to play so he called in a favor and asked to be traded...backing up Price.

Hopefully he does well in Montreal. He wasn't happy about the destination but happy he has an opportunity to play.

Price out with the flu tonight. Budaj starts and Robert Mayer has been called up. I doubt Tokarski will see any time in Montreal this season but Budaj is ufa after this season so there might be an opportunity to snag a back-up role next year. I actually think Tokarski is a better prospect than Mayer so he's got a shot.
