@botchford: Not a bad look, sedins-burrows, Higgins-kesler-Kassian, Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen, volpatti-lapierre-weise.

This is a very balanced lineup; I like it a lot. Skilled 1st line, 2nd line with lots of power (even moreso if Booth comes back and is 100%), 3rd line with a ton of speed albeit a little small, and a tough and lightly skilled 4th line.It is amazing how the trick-down effect happens when you get a player like Kesler back.

Not sold on Sedin Sedin Burrows for another playoff run.

Canucks need another top 6 forward. Kassian is not ready for full time top line role.

The 3rd line is too soft for deep run as well. Kassian should be moved there when Booth returns.

This is great news although I am going to take a rational approach and give him 4-5 games before he really starts contributing like we know he can

wth is going on with manny??

Manny is done for the year -- due to concerns with his vision. McKenzie tweeted that he expects him to stay with the team in some capacity, but he won't be playing.

So, bittersweet, but welcome back Kes.

I wonder how much longer till booth comes back. Everyone thought they would come back roughly the same time. Is there any news on booth?

I forget where but there was a report sometime last week that his recovery hit a setback or something, but I don't think he's too far off. I'm guessing early March at the latest.

Kes not wearing a 'non contact' grey sweater today at practice according to Sekeres on the Team earlier.

(Minus Manny) Just as I projected the lines to be:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Volaptti - Lapierre - Weise

Can't wait for the game tomorrow night! Wish you all the best Manny, your career is only over if you give up! I know you won't, your determination was shown to all when you came back in the playoffs in our run to the finals! Such a character guy, players like that just don't come along every day... It's a shame things had to happen the way they did. *sigh* I expect you re-signed and back to start next season fresh!

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler

That's good to hear! As long as he's actually 100%, and not jumping in early, i'm happy for him. Can't wait to see him on the ice again!!

Is anyone else projecting a Syd Crosby Return? :bigblush:

Seriously though; we have not seen the best of Ryan Kesler since he got hurt against San Jose. Might take a few games, but I've been waiting a long time for the real Ryan Kesler to come back!

What a great highlight goal! But again, seriously, RK's value is that he is our best overall athlete who has hockey skills. Yes Hank & Dank have to be the most talented. Booth is probably the single best athletic specimen. But at 207 lbs Kesler plays like a bull above his weight class, and his work rate wears out opposing players. Then he still has the durability and skills to make teams pay. What this does is draws match ups, as it takes a certain amount of speed and size to play against RK17. And he eliminates many offensive threats as he is also is amongst the top 3 or 5 defensive forwards in the game. He provides room and space for all other Canucks.

If he's healthy; we just got a whole lotta better!

Maybe AV is confused about being medically cleared to play meaning that he's going to play right away?

Just because a player is medically cleared, doesn't mean they're ready to play mentally.

Kes will make the decision, himself. At least that is what the .org has reiterated so let's see what Ryan says.
Sorry for Manny.TSN reporting he does not want to retire.
Forced retirement sucks when the big boss needs those dollars for another signing.

Burrows - Kesler - Higgins
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Weise - Lapierre - Volpatti

Kassian > Burrows in every sense of the game right now. He's bigger, tougher, stands up for the twins better and is showing he has better hands and more skill than Burrows too.

Wasn't he just cleared for contact like a week ago?

Love your posts but nobody has the chemistry Burr has shown with the twins.
Kass can go out on the PP and act as a deterrent, but come on,the body of work goes against you.
The Twins never even came to life until Burr was put back on that line.

Bur is one of the teams best all around players if Kassian can be a bigger burrows with a little better scoring touch then other teams have a problem.

No, as per the discussion in the "Kesler/Av Controversy?" thread that was locked if you listen to the audio from Kesler he makes it very clear he hasn't agreed to play yet and that he "will have a discussion with the head trainer later".

I suspect that he is going to play, but the contradictory statements between him and AV are the 2nd biggest story of the day.

Hopefully he'll come back when he's ready and not early as AV wants. They need a healthy Kesler not a mostly ready Kesler when there's no need to rush him in yet AV..

Higgins Kesler Kassian

Who's gonna pass the puck?

Kassian has shown himself to be an incredible playmaker and he is not a cherry picker and will pass the puck. Higgins is not the best passer, but he is far from the puck hog Kesler is. And Kesler is not supposed to pass the puck, he is supposed to bury it in the back of the net. Its what he does, and he does it well.
