Valentine's Day

Can't believe there wasn't a thread for this.

So for those who have a special someone, what are your plans tonight. Do you buy yearly gifts (hockey tickets, earrings, etc), go out for dinner, watch a specific movie? Or, like some couples, do you and your significant other treat the day like every other calender day?

Myself. Picking up sushi after work for dinner. Already went home for lunch and cleaned up the house properly, so the wife won't have to worry about coming home to a mess. I rarely get her flowers for Valentine's Day, which she doesn't mind. I buy her flowers quite a few times throughout the year, so it doesn't bother her that I don't get her any on V-Day.

We'll end up watching 1 of 5 gushy romance movies that she loves. And then, obviously, there's the last thing.

So, what does everyone have planned?

Doesn't mean it's insincere. The unfortunate thing is that people rarely make an effort throughout the year to do nice things for each other. Valentine's Day just gives those people the kick in the butt to actually do something nice. Me, I do far nicer things outside of Valentine's Day for my wife than on the actual day itself.

This pretty much. We don't feel compelled to do something on a certain day merely because it's highly commercialised. There's 365(.25) days of the year to be romantic and show appreciation for your SO, and there's Christmas for buying presents, and Easter, Halloween, and Christmas for buying crap-tons of candy.

This one seems quite redundant and pointless to us.

I have some problems with this day...

because many girls invite me to go out for a dinner/movie/date just because I don´t care if I spend 500 dollars (or more) in one night just to have some good moments and not necessarly end in sex and because I´m romantic and I don´t care what people around think about it...

so if I go just for a dinner...

the restaurant and the food must be good, I don´t eat too much but the food must be tasty, if the girl eats well means I did the right choice. and the wine must be good too. I hate bad wines...

if I go just to see a movie...

the movie must be good, romantic or not. must be relevant to talk about it later...

if I go to have a normal date...

the girl doesn´t pay anything unless she really really insists (including dinner and movie). and I like to talk about many things, from her plans and her Ideas to what is happening in Formula-1 this year and I really pay attention about what she says. I like walk and look the sky and buy 30 flowers (or more) for the girl, normally I don´t understand too much about the flowers but I try choose a nice number of diferent flowers. at least I did good choices recently...

and I like to dance, 2 hours nonstop. from heavy metal to disco music. :)

actually 25 girls called me today. But I´m working dammit! I´m on a hotel waiting my boss telling where we will go at 2AM...

when you´re romantic girls only remember you on this day...
