To Vancouver: Jim Slater

To Winnipeg: Andrew Ebbett + 4th Round Pick

(***Could add more or change Ebbett to a more valuable piece if needed but judging by recent trades I think this is more than fair)

The perfect fit for what we need on the 4th line. He is a LH and replaces Manny by adding a LH capable of taking big draws so we don't need to use Henrik there like we did last night.

Other than that though, he is fast, very gritty, fights, brings energy, great PKer, great shot blocker, agitator, good defensive guy, exc.

Brings what you need in playoff hockey. (For a 4th liner)

Assets: Has great speed, which he uses effectively on the forecheck (and backcheck). Also displays grit, a defensive conscience and a little offensive ability. Kills penalties and checks skilled forwards very well. Can even get under an opponent's skin.

Flaws: Needs to show more consistency in the offensive zone. Tends to play out of control on occasion. Lacks discipline on some nights. His all-out hustling style can sometimes lead to injuries, so he'd be wise to scale it back a little from time to time.

Career Potential: Speedy checking forward with great energy.

He'd be a reasonable pickup if he didn't have 2 years left at 1.6 million. We're going to be hard pressed to get below the cap, and that amount of money will be hard to justify on the 4th line. I don't think that Ebbett will crack any NHL lineup given how small and ineffective he's played so far.

Good for us but really winnipeg would see that ebbett cant really do anything for them and decline, still the trade is similar in value for both sides , but still cant see them doing this trade. And at least your proposals are better than mine. :)

Jets fans will tell you Slater is worth much more than that. They love him. They wouldn't give him up for less than Gaustad-like returns (which is awful for us).

Although I do agree we could use a left-handed bottom-six center option now that Manny is out.

Ya Slater's value to WPG is worth alot more than it would be in trade. This idea is pretty much a bust. Worth a shot though.

jets might do it if they are out of playoff contention. Still not banking on them accepting though.
