Setoguchi, the subject of trade rumors, knows he has to be better.

Asked if he is concerned about Setoguchi's play, General Manager Chuck Fletcher said: "We need to get a lot more out of our second and third lines. We need more scoring chances, [...] It's early yet, but it'll become late quickly here if we don't get going. The next step is to shift the lines a bit, mix the personnel and see if that ignites some players."

Acquiring RW Devin Setoguchi from the Sharks before hasn’t worked out as planned and he could be moved. The 26-year-old was moved to the club’s fourth line last week because he hasn’t been living up to coach Mike Yeo’s expectations. There is talk Setoguchi is available, but he does have one year left at $3 million. Many believe part of the issue is the Wild overhyped the signings of LW Zach Parise and D Ryan Suter ...

Plus, as I’ve reported, I am told my multiple sources that Setoguchi is on the trading block. To trade him, you need to play him.

I don't think he would be a good fit in our roster plus Wild is a division rival..... is he any better than Raymond?

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

Not really what the Canucks need.

I could see him going to the Penguins or Bruins though.

For one more year at 3 mil a team will pick him up. He has the skills to be a solid top 6, just ask Luongo.

Yeah, it doesn't seem the Zach Boychuk experiment is working out.

However, if GMCF is looking for scoring, I would think it would be a struggling scoring forward for a struggling scoring forward (a la Latendresse trade) OR Seto as part of a package for a more reliable offensive player..

I wonder if Buffalo would do a Setoguchi & Stafford swap. Two overpaid struggling RWers who score goals in theory.

Send Coyle down then swap Seto + a pick for Stafford & Gerbe.

He is a decent player, solid 3rd line player with the ability to play the second line.

Eklund broke the Tim Thomas trade first and I hate Eklund but I'll give credit when credit is due.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.

His game would be built for the playoffs. Great 2nd liner on any deep team, if not then a very strong 3rd line winger.

I expect the Bruins to go for this guy. They've got the cap room now and he's a prototypical Bruins player - big, physical but also fast and very skilled. Fits right into the Horton-Lucic mould they've been developing well.

I'm pretty sure any CDC member could start a rumour website and eventually they'd get one right. He's still irrelevant.

On the topic of Setoguchi... I'd love to see him here, but the Wild won't trade him to us, and we don't exactly need him. Maybe a bold offer would be Booth for Setoguchi? Still don't think the Wild would do it, with his injury history...

I could see him going to the Capitals. They desperately need some skilled wingers and he is a fast skater and would fit in well with Washington.

He had a couple of good years with SJ and has coasted ever since. Nice shot but doesn't seem to like going to the net enough. I would not move Booth for DS. Booth might not light it up as much as expected but he can dangle and he will go to the net. Look with anticipation to see Booth-Kesler-Kassian in the future.

But I like Setoguchi, he's just never quite taken off. He seems to get those timely goals but doesn't always do enough otherwise.

It seems strange to me that a team that is having so much trouble scoring goals would be looking to deal one of it's offensive forwards.

What do they expect to get for him? Someone who is actually scoring?

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Between him and Raymond, I would rather keep Raymond who is really engaged in the community and a homegrown team guy. Setoguchi is a little better, but not enough so to add the extra salary and messing with the team chemistry.

That's always been his problem, I think. Even in junior the guy wasn't really a scoring "machine" per se, notched 35 goals on a couple of occasions but was never really the type of guy who could take over a game. Always seemed to score huge, timely goals though.

Including an overtime winner to sweep the Blazers in the '06-'07 WHL playoffs <_<
