With Manny out, #40 will have a very large role

I never understood why AV put Malhotra and Lapierre (two centres) on the same line, meanwhile he put Burrows and Hansen two right wings) on the same line...

With Malhotra on IR, Lapierre can return to his original position.

This is how I think the lines could look:

Daniel - Henrik - Kassian

Higgins - Kesler - Burrows

Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen

Volpatti - Lapierre - Weise

Bieksa - Hamhuis

Garrison - Edler

Tanev - Ballard

Luongo

Schneider

Torres - Lapierre - Hansen was one hell of a shutdown/checking line for us. It's good that his role will expand but we still need a solid shutdown left-handed centreman who is good on the dot -- we can't have Hank out there taking all the left side defensive draws.

We're lucky Schroeder is going to step in perfectly to fill that #3 center spot, but this team needs an extra center in case of injury. I don't want to see Ebbett play another game at center.

Losing Malhotra, we lose a PKer, good faceoff man but importantly a LOT of size. He was probably our biggest center, now we have Kesler and Henrik (both average-sized), Lapierre (average height but good hitter) and Schroeder (tiny size). The Canucks need a big guy down the middle and preferably a defensive specialist - we have 3 offensive centers now. Someone who's versatile and can play with Lappy on the 4th line as winger too.

We will see a Kassian, Kesler, Boothe line when they are all back and healthy, I guarantee it, even if it is only too see what it can do.

As for LTI, a player only counts towards LTIR if we are over the cap when we get that players replacement. As we have no replacement for Manny yet, he is not on the LTIR and just on the IR. But that said, its almost the same thing in Manny's case, its just he is not 'Officially" on the LTIR yet. Also I believe it is LTI and IR but we just call it the LTIR because it makes sense in our miniscule little human brains. Or something.
