Man, we look BIIIIIIG compared to Chicago. Weise, Booth, Lappy, Kes all hitting hard and Chicago doesn't have an answer. Still gotta shut that speed down though but we're getting there

this could be an epic game or very one sided...(hopefully for the Nucks) but either way the Nucks are goona need some incredible efforts from everyone and lots of bounces the NUcks way and devine intervention by the Hockey Gods...

Dimitri Filipovic@SoYoureAnExpert

In the 1st, 1 team had 10 chances & Ray Emery as their goalie. The other had 2, but Cory Schneider as theirs. Can you guess who is winning?

Ha ha! All hail Schneider! But seriously, 10 chances in 1 period is nutso, where the d-men?

Sloppy period by both teams. Our poor blueline pinches have led to 3 terrible giveaways, and the hawks seem to lose the puck a lot deep in our zone, resulting in odd man rushes for us. Not to mention all the bad line changes.

Glad to be up 1-0 on the road though, you always take it. I suspect that both teams will shake off the jitters and have more jump and hustle in the 2nd.

THIS will be the Canucks biggest test.

In the 2nd period will they let off the gas and try and hold the one goal lead, patented AV style.

Or, push and keep pushing even if the score becomes 5-0. Be relentless

Agreed,

Taking off the offensive pressure allows the other team the confidence to attack recklessly without fear of paying a price.

The best defence is a strong offence. Chicago won't score on Cory from their own end!!

Schneider kept us in the game with 3 breakaway stops out of 9 shots, now can the rest of of team hold on to the lead, and keep the Chicago crowd quiet.
That goal by Daniel really took the crowd out of it.

Bieksa 2 Edler 1 in the giving up breakaways competition.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

Um, it couldn't be? Because we scored a goal. But I agree, Schneids has been on top of things.

Just watched Sharp say they had Cory beat on those 3 breakaways. Yet, I see 0 on the board for Chicago. QQ Notrick Sharp

Not really, the rivalry is still alive... Remember Burrows slayed the Dragon during the 2011 playoffs and Keith nasty elbow on Daniel last year.

We played the Hawks few weeks, ago nobody did anything to Keith when they should have. The rivalry has cooled a bit for sure

Just watched the replay of the 3 Hawk breakaways and in 2 of them Bieksa was the one waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of position. The third one was another stupid brain cramp of a pinch by Edler. Both Bieksa and Edler have been very poor the last handful of games. Hope they figure it out soon.

It's still a rivalry but not as intense as it used to be.
