MJDDawg Posted February 20, 2013 Share Posted February 20, 2013 They've shown many times in the past that they can get running around like chickens with their heads cut off whenever the other team puts on some sustained pressure or follows with pressure after a goal. Don't know if it's a mental thing, a structure thing or if it's because we don't really have any big bodies that can scare the crap out of anyone in front of the net. Case in point, on Hossa's nice goal driving to the front of the net, Bieksa should have wiped him out but instead gave him a little love tap on the shin pads with his stick. Just pathetic. Something that would never happen if Kirk Mclean was in net. L.A last year was because we didn't Have Daniel Sedin in the line up. The system A.V has in place works. It's up to the GM to employ what he deems worthy "athletes", then it's up the coach to use the athletes in any fashion he sees correct during gameplay, and it's up to the athletes to perform, and what better way to perform than being "bigger and faster", amirite? Forsy Posted February 20, 2013 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Turnovers happen all the time. The biggest issue is that when we defend, there is very little pressure on the opposing puck carrier. If you notice the good teams always are pressuring our puck carrier (1 or 2 guys forecheck, or 1 guy on puck carrier, 1 guy blocking the only pass lane) to the point wherein if we don't pass it around fast enough, we will lose the puck. zoner. Posted February 20, 2013 Share Posted February 20, 2013 I don't think it's even size/speed that does it, simply an aggressive forecheck. The defense gets all flustered when that happens, and the rest of the team is already skating to the opposing team's blue line waiting for a pass. Breakout pass gets intercepted and boom, odd-man rush on our net. Chicago did it countless times last night, the Canucks have become predictable.
