And besides, he's the best goalie we ever had - and he gives us a reasonable chance to win for the next 6 years.... Schneider is younger, cheaper, and will get us a better return. But he's better than Luongo. But he's an unknown. He may crumble without Luo behind him. It reminds me of "The Bear" when the youngster stood up to the cougar, but didn't realize that the Bear was behind him, had his back. Returns are all that matters. But there's no goaltender market. Keep both guys if there's no goaltender market. But we should trade a goaltender, the one that MG trades, for the guys that MG trades him for, because why have a starter on the bench? He's a great goaltender, but his lack of postseason success is alarming. He always seems to play well during the regular season, but collapses during the postseason. I think Schneider, given some time, will be more consistent with his play, more confident with his movements. Yes it makes sense, cory's contact and age should provide a bigger return, but there is no goalie market. Which team can provide the assets and would make sense for them to trade? I'm yet to hear a reasonable argument for this. You do realize that every team has a goalie in there system that they think in the next great goalie. Flames thought this with Irivin, now they've moved on to Ramo, Florida has Markstom, TB has vasilevsky, TOR had reimer, not saying all these goalie wont turn out but just because they play good in their current leagues means nothing till they can prove in the NHL. And hopefully, you trade them for a guy who will play 5-6 years in the NHL and who has an amazingly long contract. That's how it works; CDC says so.
