Gillis claim him plz

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Yes please Gillis grab all the castoffs from lesser teams because for sure they have a roster spot waiting for them somewhere on the Canucks.

He's played in two games this year for Nashville and has a pretty much flat stat line apart from 1 hit, 1 giveaway and 1 takeaway. No thanks.

Clune has replaced him.

Which doesn't make much sense considering he is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller, worse fighter and has played all of 33 games in the NHL.

McGrattan is able to play a regular shift and has some upside.

In his last 20 games in the AHL, he put up 6 goals and 4 assists for 10 points.

Obviously not going to be putting up much in the show playing under 5 min a game.

Volpatti has the same minimal numbers.

He has a 600K cap hit (and a 2 way contract, so 105K salary in the AHL) and UFA at the end of the summer.

I don't see how this would hurt. Trying him on the 4th line instead of Patti or Weise (yes he kills penalties, but we have enough forwards who can do that) could work.

Because Clune replaced him.......did you not read what I post I responded to....

Kings traded Gagne for a 4th round pick, what's your point?

Certain teams have certain needs and beliefs on players values.

Yes because playing Volpatti on the 4th line for 6 minutes is a HUGE difference from playing McGrattan on the 4th line for 6 minutes.

I certainly did.

Sometimes teams are forced into putting player on waivers due to better options, true, but if a team chooses to go with a smaller player in a role that's traditionally help by larger, tougher players, that does suggest something to their effectiveness. If you want to talk about certain teams having certain needs, then you may want to consider what the Canucks have typically done in a case like this.

No way we claim him.

Well of course we won't, I'm not going to deny that. This is MG not Holmgren who is managing.

I'm just stating there would be no risk. Playing him over Patti would make no difference asides from the fact we would have a more intimidating and better fighting presence on the roster.

Exactly!!!!! if the 4th lines are barely going to play you might as well have some who puts the fear of God into the other team!!!

While I agree with your sentiment 100%, the way you said it makes me want to watch Brian McGratton pound your skull with his giant fists.
You see, I started off with a compliment, and then moved on to a critique.

No room in the NHL for a fighter anymore. If you can't kill penalties, skate well and score on top of fighting no one wants you. We've got plenty of 4th liners better than him, Weise, Volpatti, Lapierre and Pinizotto all do more.

No thanks, like I have said before we don't need a guy who can't skate and is strictly a fighter, I would rather Volpatti in the line-up.

Or then of course there's always the Ferry

Also,
I'm putting together a list of the criteria to be a "real" Canuck's fan. So far I have this:

1. I cheer for the Canucks, whatever happens.
2. I never say anything bad about the Canucks.
3. I know the difference between "real" fans and posers just by how they post on the CDC or where they sit at GM Place.
4. I wouldn't dream of leaving a game before it ended, even if it meant missing a train, ferry or a threesome with the wife and her hot best friend?
5. I make 10+ posts a day and I have over 10,000 posts on the CDC, so my Canuck "street-cred" is huge. Go away noob!
6. No one F's with me. I train in MMA. I'm really tough. I'll curb stomp yo' donkey.
7. I make a tonne of $$$$.
8. I'm witty.
9. If it meant missing a game, I wouldn't study for a midterm.
10. I roll with a guy who has a wicked car.
11. I like to post "source?" a lot.

I wouldn't mind picking him up, he wouldn't have a regular roster spot anyway. Having a guy like McGrattan would be useful if we started getting pushed around in the playoffs again.

Everyone on this forum who mentions John Scott as a useful NHLer just makes themselves look silly

You'd think such a useful NHLer would have seen more playoff games since he's so useful and could be acquired for next to nothing
