billabong
MG has shown a liking for players who were under performing/buying low on players with some issues. - Chris Higgins had trouble staying healthy (regained form) - Maxim Lapierre wasn't fitting in Anaheim (regained form) - David Booth looked overpaid (jury is still out... <60 games is hard to tell) I think Boyes fits right into that description. Hes 30 years old, and even in these last 2 years (down years) hes averaged 43 points/season (which is pretty solid). He likely signed the 1 year deal with NYI to jump start his career. Could be a cheap alternative to Booth next year, a replacement if Raymond/Higgins walk etc.
Kack Zassian
I expect mg to do a deal like this so I wouldn't nix it but depending on how boyes does I think nyi would like to squeeze every ounce of value in him in a trade Don't even mention the possibility of Higgins walking!!! I would cry if they let him walk without great cause. He is a fan favourite and the organization loves his effort and drive....he will sign somewhere around a 2.5m-3m/2-4 years and that's great value
