@MurphysLaw74
Told by NHL source that Bruins inquired about Michael Ryder but price too high. Believe there is still interest in Brendan Morrow from BOS.

They didn't have a spare Cole lying around? There's been rumour they'd been interested in getting rid of Horton, could that not have worked as a deal similar to move Cole?

DarrenDreger
Dallas was looking for a forward who's tougher to play against. They see that in Erik Cole and give up the upside of Ryder to get him.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

Unlikely because we are in the same conference. Possible, but unlikely, They probably ask for a Hansen or something.

Dallas was looking for a forward who's tougher to play against. They see that in Erik Cole and give up the upside of Ryder to get him.

We;ll see which Erik Cole shows up. He just didn't even give a damn when he was with Edmonton. But that was Edmonton.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

http://bleacherrepor...d-top-prospects

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Is it just me, or does it look like the Stars are selling? They've traded a very good performer for them, for a player who has been subpar this year and a pick. And now rumours are that they're willing to trade Morrow? Wtf Dallas, you're in a playoff spot.

Good move by Mtl in shedding that contract for a player who'll obviously decline in a big hurry. Ryder was good and bad for them in the past. UFA in the summer.

Chances are Cole asked for a trade as well. His last stay in Canada was brief.

Dallas must not of thought they could have re-signed Ryder. That came out of left field.

Booth could be packaged in a bigger deal and get us more than a 32 year old pending UFA.

Dallas got ripped on this one, and they threw in a 3rd rounder too. Last season both players had almost identical stats but Ryder is playing great this season (almost a point per player) and Cole is barely 0.5 PPG. So Dallas trade away a better player and give up a pick for a worse forward.

After Cole made those CBA comments I wasn't surprised Montreal would move him, and the fans will be happier too now. Top of the Conference and they get a better player, look out.

Ryder is better than Booth so it's too bad he's not GM.

We got Booth for Samuelson and Sturm. How has his value increased since then?

Florida had to get salary off the books. Any knowledgeable hockey fan knows we won that trade.

His value hasn't increased, but it is still worth more than what we got him for. ;)

If he's worth something more than what we got him for then someone else would have given more. Economics 101.

Nope. Hockey doesn't follow the rule of economics.

Tallon was looking for two players that were off the books at the end of the year. And he wanted two veteran wingers to fill in some gaps. Vancouver had what he was looking for.

It's not always about the "best" deal, it's about the right fit, and pretty much who you wanna do a deal with.

I understand what Tallon wanted, but a player is only worth as much as the buyer is willing to pay. No other team offered better than Samuelsson and Sturm, so no other team thought Booth was worth more than Samuelsson and Sturm.

Value is subjective.

You don't know that no other team offered "better" so you can't make that comment.

Teams get ripped off all the time, not because they can't get better, but because they believed that was the best deal for them.

All I know is a GM will take the best offer thrown his way. If the best offer he got was Samuelsson and Sturm then that is what Booth is worth. A GM won't trade if he thinks he's being ripped off. Only after the trade can we see who won. If Booth would have had say a 50point season last year, I would say he is worth more than Samuelsson and Sturm. But that is not the case so I don't see how his stock has risen.

Don't forget we also took on Reinprecht's salary to help out Florida as well. They're a cash strapped team that wasn't benefiting from paying him $2+M in the minors, nor was it helping them to pay Booth so much with younger players coming up in the system when they could play a couple of veterans on expiring contracts to bridge the gap instead.

Both teams got what they wanted from that deal. Florida's goals were short term and financially motivated, while Vancouver's were longer term and about on ice performance. It's much the same with this deal, where both teams have a reason for doing it, even if it doesn't make immediate sense.

They also gave us a 3rd round pick so that cancells out with Reinprecht imo
