I am proud of the team for chipping away through the missed calls, that was our downfall last game.

But oh well, we have a 4 day break to rest and get back at it.
And who better to face than the reigning Stanely Cup Champions.

No urgency at all. Also, what was Hamhuis doing before the empty net goal? 30 seconds left and he takes a slap shot dump from our own end with an empty net...? The other interesting stat was faceoffs: this many consecutive games where the Canycks have had a significant disadvantage in faceoff percentage is worriesome. Shows how important Malhotra's faceoffs where to the stats at leat. Also points out a deficiency in the faceoff dot of our other centres.

Non of the above are any better.

At this point it's not about better, but different. This team needs a culture change either through trade or coaching. And stop harping on Schneider for letting in weak goals, he's backed up by the King of letting in pathetic goals in Lu.

Look, it's as simple as this regarding Schneider. Whether he's to blame for the goals he allowed or not is insignificant. The fact is he's clearly playing a level below the level he played at last season and the season before.

I just chalk it up to the team being tired, this was what, their 4th game in 6 nights? Just relax Canucks fans, as long as we show up for LA on sat.

Agreed.....

How can a team as bruised, and unskilled as the Senators have an equal record to us when we have 2 of the best players in the world and a healthy Kesler anchoring the 2nd line

This dump and chase garbage has GOT TO GO!!!!!

The dump and chase is all these guys have. So far from what I've seen is anyone in the bottom six can't stick handle to save their lives and anyone in the top six seem to like passing to other team. Don't get me wrong though I love the sedins. I watch other games regularly as to get the most out of my gamecenter purchase and no other team plays like those two. However the one thing I have noticed between the Canucks and other teams is teams like the sens seem to have way more get up and go and push almost every shift. The Canucks seem to pick a shift here or there to put in their all and then take a few off.

Av Needs to either change his coaching style or he needs to leave. I have been quiet about this whole coaching thing (other then wondering what he was doing with Kassian) untill now but enough is enough he is obviously not getting through to these players. They are just horrible. No Heart, No drive, They don't even look like they want to be there.

The only canuck who seems to be playing good at all, who even seems to play with any type of passion is Tanev. The core needs to wake up. I am not attacking them . I don't think they all need to be traded but enough is enough.

The refs and Gary Bettman need to go away. Seriously I swear every single game the game- mangement gets worse and worse and worse.

It's not going to improve without playing in an actual game situation either so would be nice to actually get the calls finally.

They have tried 3 different pp formations so far this season... whats it going to take?

Enough excuses. Injuried, fatigue, refs, etc etc.

This team is simply NOT good enough. We have lost to Phoenix and St.Louis at home amd Chicago and Detroit on the road. Not too promising!!

We need a MAJOR change. Either a big trade or a coaching change. We are stale and since Game 5 of the finals something is missing. In the cap era major trades are tough to do so my vote is replacing AV. Good coach, but he has had a long run and in my opinion, the time is now. We have nothing to lose. At best I see another early first round exit.

He was trying to shoot it off the boards and score from behind his own net.

Is that a glitch in NHL 13 or something? I was wondering why he slapped it as well, seemed like a rushed play.

What was with all the solo dashes today? Jesus Canucks, there are 4 other skaters out there with you.

And why does it take us 3 tries to clear the zone.

Schneider was pissed off post game btw. Direct quote:
"I'm getting tired of playing like an average goalie. It's getting ridiculous."

Kesler, Booth, Raymond, Kassian, Higgins, Hansen not even threatening offensively. Emphasis on the first 3. We can't call ourselves a depth team if the depth players aren't going to score.

Of course...happens to the best of them when they sign a big contract....even Kipper, the year after he signed his played mediocre compared to how he normally plays...

Whoever punched burrows to the back of the head while going for the puck deserves a suspension for a "wreckless hockey play". How's that any different from Hansen?

If we can't make a Luongo trade this season, we nee to at least trade a couple wingers for either an upgrade to our top 6 or an upgrade to our top 4.

Having this many wingers, and this little offense isn't working.

From an outsiders perspective it doesn't look like the Canucks are playing with any sense of urgency on a consistent basis. There's no question the Canucks have some incredible talent on the team, but the motivation doesn't seem to be there. Something needs to wake these guys up and the overall team defense needs to improve.

Normally, the dump and chase help to set up Sedins' cycles and power play opportunities. It's just that in tonight's game, our usual offensive method was not overly effective. Defensive lapses can be attributed as a part of our reason for tonight's loss. This is when we need Bieksa.

Lets not get carried away. It DID deserve a penalty though, along with at least two other infractions against Alex.

Auger has made the Referee Brotherhood swear to never making a call against Burrows again.

I don't think it's getting carried away, it's just requesting consistency. Vermette was facing Burrows, and his hand extended directly toward his face, hit it, and then reached up to play the puck. In my opinion it became a hockey play when he reached up. If Hansen got one game for his hockey play, then this play getting a game is certainly warranted.

I thought the Canucks were the better team for a majority of the game.

Chipchura goal- Brudel defense.

Boedker goal- Bad bounce off Lapierres skate.

Vermette goal- Defence and goalie could have been a bit better on it.

Other thoughts:

- Garrisson and Alberts played well.

- Schneider played solid.

- Edler played bad defense.

- Sedins looked like the Sedins.

- I'd rather have no refs then the ones we have right now.

ugh watching the coyotes is like watching paint dry, if you have that game PVR'd go back and watch the second period, they made TWO passes out of their own zone the entire period. the rest of the period was off the boards/icing or dumped out. pathetic hockey to watch the NHL should be ashamed of the product being put on the ice by teams like the coyotes/predators.

Bench Ballard (again) and bring in Barker next game.

We really need a trade to shake things up but Gillis has this "waiting philosophy" WHICH HAS NEVER WON US A CUP.
