Im just not seeing what he brings to the table any more. There is zero offensive upside at this point, the hits are soft at best and dont get me started on losing a fight to Vernon Fiddler. Please just go get Konopka who can actually win some draws, fight and has atleast the same limited offensive upside.

Lappy had a bad game last night in the defensive zone, but that's just one game. I'll give you that stupid, useless fight in the Dallas game, but he was hardly alone on that crappy night.

All in all, Lappy's awesome on the PK, grinds with the best of them, and has a smirk that apparently makes other players lose their *&^%. And so far this season he has 4 points, including 1 goal, and is a +2 (tying him for 7th on our team for +/-). Oh, and he's won 51.4% of face offs. (Other than the face off god Manny, only Kesler has done better at 53.8%.) What else do you want from hiim?

Lappy is doing well in my opinion. He does need to hit more, but no one is playing well right now.

Lapierre, like most Canucks, is overrated on this team. Can't believe he even got a look on our third line. I just don't get him, he's a fourth line grinder, but can't fight... So what can be do?

He's one of our best players in the playoffs, there's no point in him going and laying people out, barely anyone else on our team finishes their checks besides Booth.

I'm really disappointed in Kassians physical play.

I don't get MG, Lappy sucks at fighting so he waives Volpatti our only guy who's good at fighting and hitting consistently and were stuck with Weise who loses every single fight. I don't care if he has a bit more skill then Volpatti we're a soft team.

He has led the team in hits ever since we got him.

2010-2011

194 hits (Hansen was in 2nd with 149 hits)

2011-2012

244 hits (Bieksa was 2nd with 159 hits)

2012-1013

46 hits (Volpattie is 2nd with 42 hits)

also konopka season high in points is 9... Lapierre's is 28. /thread

He's been nothing short of awful so far this year, especially last game. I think him bulking up as much as he did has really hurt his speed. His forecheck is no where near as effective and he's not hitting.

Hes a great 4th line center. And even if he wasn't he is the least of our concern.

He's nowhere near the worst bang-for-the-buck on this team. We have players doing the same, making 3x as much. Lappy is the least of our worries.

I'd be more concerned with Kesler's horrible play then what's happening on the fourth line.

What fourth line center is known for offensive output? Name one on any other team and we will get him. Thanks.

Konopka? Lapierre has almost more points last season than Konopka had in his career (250 games)

I don't agree that he should move on, I'm simply stating his play isn't acceptable and what I think is hindering him a bit(added bulk). It's a lot more than what you added to this topic. He's averaging a hit per game less than last year and his hits are far less noticable (ie big hits).

Been said but I'll reiterate everything:
  • He consistently leads our team in hitting
  • His last game isn't a great basis of judgment, he was excellent last year and the year before when we picked him up
  • He's a good playoff performer, 2 key goals in the SCF is a great example
I think, however, that he needs a bit of time to get used to being 20lbs bigger and it shows.

I just....sigh. Sure yes. I agree trade lappy, Schneider, Luongo, Kesler, Booth, Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, garrison and the Sedins for draft picks. Our first line should rightly be Schroeder, Raymond and Kassian. Who cares what the rest of the players are, that line has STANLEY CUP written all over it. It's GOLD JERRY, GOLD!!!

Or then of course there's always the Ferry

Also,
I'm putting together a list of the criteria to be a "real" Canuck's fan. So far I have this:

1. I cheer for the Canucks, whatever happens.
2. I never say anything bad about the Canucks.
3. I know the difference between "real" fans and posers just by how they post on the CDC or where they sit at GM Place.
4. I wouldn't dream of leaving a game before it ended, even if it meant missing a train, ferry or a threesome with the wife and her hot best friend?
5. I make 10+ posts a day and I have over 10,000 posts on the CDC, so my Canuck "street-cred" is huge. Go away noob!
6. No one F's with me. I train in MMA. I'm really tough. I'll curb stomp yo' donkey.
7. I make a tonne of $$$$.
8. I'm witty.
9. If it meant missing a game, I wouldn't study for a midterm.
10. I roll with a guy who has a wicked car.
11. I like to post "source?" a lot.

i love all these people who keep saying "its one bad game" all these 1 bad games are adding up what was detroit another 1 bad game? what about chicago? another 1 bad game what about losing last 5 of 7 its funny becasue we could lose our 15th game and people will come on here and say its still just one bad game. there is a difference between losing a playing bad you can come out with an A+ effort and lose no one will care it happens but when they come out with no heart or hustle its playing bad and canucks lose by lack of effort and heart more than they do just being outplayed.

It is time fans like you get a dose of NHL reality. This board is in for a HUUUUGE surprise. There is a good possibility of this season going straight into the crapper. Injuries are devastating teams league wide and we are no exception. This season is rapidly turning into a complete farce. The players , owners and agents brought this sh.. on themselves grubbing for money. No real prep for the grind of a season let alone a half season. IR is the busiest place on nearly every team and you want to toss one of our hardest skating players ?
