To be honest Ballard has played very well this year. Possibly better than Edler and Garrison. He deserves some love by now. If you look at other contracts out there, his isn't that awful.

Campbell's good, but his cap is just way over the top. I think he also has a NTC. :(

thats fine. With him around Sedins can be 100 point players again.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

If we could acquire Campbell, we do it and worry about his cap hit later. He's exactly what we need on the back end to get our offense and powerplay to an elite level again.

Unfortunately Campbel probably won't waive his no trade clause, and Tallon likely doesn't want to trad him.

That's true. I'd want him, but I wonder why Garrison can't make them 100-point players.

Could Weiss be acquired without giving up Luongo?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Probably.

He's a pending UFA and from the sounds of it Florida will not re-sign him. And now they're not even playing him, so it's likely a trade is already in the works.

I would say it would cost us either a 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick and a prospect like Sweatt or Rodin.

I doubt it would take a first. By the sounds of it his value has taken a hit. Also, when a coach basically says he's not part of the future or current plans you have to think that it won't take a crazy amount to get him

Except Gillis is in a position of weakness because our second line center is injured.

Gaustad went for a 1st, it's probably gonna take the Canucks a 1st to get him, otherwise they'll just take another teams higher 2nd round pick.

I was thinking something like Rodin and a 2nd as well. I'd be hesitant on giving up our 2nd in this draft but Weiss would be worth it.

Weiss' value will not get Florida a 1st round pick, especially with his contract ending after the season.

Vancouver may have a weakness at center, but Florida also if to discuss Weiss in a deal is also coming from a point of weakness as there is little value in Weiss as it stands right now.

I don't feel Weiss would be a fit for Vancouver anyways.

That's not the way to do things anymore with the cap going down. We'd have to give up a lot in the summer to make that work. And I doubt Gillis is prepared to do that, as he has some good talent on the backend already. Just a matter of AV getting the best out of them now. And that's a different story...

4.1 Salary, 3.1 Cap Hit, not ridiculous at all when you consider how consistent he has been up to this season.

If was me I'd trade
Luo+Raymond and a 3rd & 5th rounder next year
for
Weiss,Theodore, Bjugstad,1st

that's a fair trade if not theodore then thier besy minor goalie cause we will need a back up!!
We could then have 3 scoring lines and good D men plus an awesome goalie!!!Anything less would not be worth the trade!

Weiss is a great player and on a cheap contract for what he can produce. If he's available for a relatively cheap mg should jump all over it. Every other gm would at least. Plus he plays more like a Center than Kesler does. He's a playmaker, and uses his wingers to make plays. Booth-Weiss-Kassian would have the potential to be great.

If Weiss can be acquired for cheap I don't see why we wouldn't do it. If he is a former Carolina Hurricane would you guys care? Yes we have quite a few florida players but that should have no bearing on a potential trade. If he can step in an improve the offense (and defense) why the hell not. He's playing for a coach who hates him which should be considered before writing him of as washed up

No more Florida players. So far anything we've gotten from Florida has been a bust. I was glad to see Booth come here but now ... I wonder if it's the players or the coach not knowing how to use these guys. I'm thinking the later. AV is stale.

Luongo, Jovanovski, Auld?

Aside from Bure, they've taken more 'crap' (not a nice thing to say of a professional athlete, but you get the point) from us than we have from them. Can't win them all. Just because someone has played in Florida doesn't automatically make him a bust...

If he is available for relatively cheap and every other GM would be interested, then what guarantee does Gillis have he can get him with all that competition? And wouldn't that drive the price up?

In any event, it's not that Weiss wouldn't be a reasonable player for us, but rather the price for him next year. Can we afford to re-sign him with the cap lowering, or is he just a rental? That could absolutely affect what we pay for him.
