Erik Karlsson
Good, now they should trade him.
Smashian Kassian
Well that didn't take long, I guess he can finally start playing now.

MayRayDown
Well they just ripped the hearts out of Calgary's fans fast and stomped on it but was a obvious decision by the avs
susraiders
That price is way too high. $6.5 million to qualify him after his contract. Is he really worth more than Hall or Eberle or Seguin? The avalanche will have to let him walk because they would be fools to sign him for $6.5 million unless he greatly improves his game, which could happen. Ossi Vaananen
LOL, it was reported the tiff between the Av's and O'Reilly was about them trying to force a 'bridge' contract on him, in the 3 mil range - yet now they'll match a 5m per? I have to think they're planning to deal him, but the QO after that second year is ridiculous, I can't see too many teams being interested. Dion Phaneuf
O'Reilly will be traded next season or his RFA rights will be dealt unless he magically turns into a 70+ point forward.
shazzam
that was fast
underrated
Honestly O'Reilly definitely isn't worth 5 mil cap hit this year or next year. They matched because of keeping his rights for future potential. But a 1st and 3rd, along with saving money, along with getting rid of a player who couldn't agree to play there is an enticing offer
LOL_dre
When they say he would have to be qualified at 6.5 does that mean the contract would have to have a cap hit of 6.5 or would they be able to offer him a front loaded contract that payed 6.5 in the first year? Ghostsof1915
Shows how desperate Calgary is, and how stupid. Now other GM's will low ball them if they try and off load some contracts.

LOL_dre
I believe to keeps his rights, they have to offer him a deal worth at least 6.5 per or he walks UFA of course they can always negotiate something different

UFCanuck
O'Reilly got Grabovski money. Burke must be completely outraged.

hudson bay rules
If they want to be a contender they'd take the draft picks. If they only want to meet the salary cap floor they don't give a frack that one player makes so much.
SterlingArcher
Duchene should be getting a hefty contract now. Also enjoyed SNET ripping GM Sherman claiming Avs signed him etc
