Standings Deceiving

38 posts in this topic

The Canucks would only be in 7th place if we were in the East. But that is assuming we could win the same amount of games against a tougher conference. I dont think we could. There are four teams in the top 8 positions fromt the Central division in the West. We are the only North West team in the top Eight. This means that not only us, but all the teams in the West destroy our division.

Bottom line. We are not as good as you think.

Rocket science. Did you come up with that all by your lonesome?

When people say "most of our wins come against the NW division, RAH RAH, we actually suck", I think "would you rather us lose those games against the division?".

The only times I actually bother to look at the standings is to see how other teams are doing or if it is near to the post-season. I care more for how the teams plays than the actual result of the game.

Did we win the President trophy twice and make it to game 7 of the SCF because of being in the NW division?

Ya maybe we would be 7th in the East but If you take the Jets(8th in the east) and put them in the west they would be 12th.

God help us if we ever have a season where we're not in a playoff position for a prolonged period of time.

There are also 4 teams from the Northeast in the top 8 in the East. Some divisions are stronger than others. Big whoop. It'll even out eventually. Remember, when the Central sucked? Now they don't. Things will change. It happens.

It was always my understanding that as long as you made the play-offs you had a chance to win the Cup. Who cares where you finish as long as you're in!!

East is a lot weaker though. And I think everyone already knew what you posted OP.

Doesn't matter, people have this expectation that we have to be tops in the conference

Just make the playoffs, and anything can happen.

Canuck fans have been so spoiled recently.

OP, you say the East is stronger?

East versus West record this season 0-0-0

Stop whining and enjoy the season. You're the same type that comes out bashing the team EVERY year when we struggle out the gate and miraculously becomes #1 cheerleader by the seasons end. It's pathetic.

Yeah if anything the East is weaker by alot. Please refer to NHL.com and look at the opponents. We may be in the 2nd easiest division, but we are in the harder conference. I would rather play Montreal and Pittsburgh over any California team.
