The Canucks would only be in 7th place if we were in the East. But that is assuming we could win the same amount of games against a tougher conference. I dont think we could. There are four teams in the top 8 positions fromt the Central division in the West. We are the only North West team in the top Eight. This means that not only us, but all the teams in the West destroy our division.

Bottom line. We are not as good as you think.

When people say "most of our wins come against the NW division, RAH RAH, we actually suck", I think "would you rather us lose those games against the division?".

Feminism will be outlawed. Mostly because it's a backwards idiotic viewpoint that doesn't serve any real progressive purpose.

The only times I actually bother to look at the standings is to see how other teams are doing or if it is near to the post-season. I care more for how the teams plays than the actual result of the game.

We were 7-3-2 in the month of February.

We're doomed.

Did we win the President trophy twice and make it to game 7 of the SCF because of being in the NW division?

Well the two Pres Trophies, I would say being in the NW helped a lot. The SCF, it obviously doesn't matter what division you are in, but that was a different team than this one. Or atleast they played like it.

Ya maybe we would be 7th in the East but If you take the Jets(8th in the east) and put them in the west they would be 12th.

God help us if we ever have a season where we're not in a playoff position for a prolonged period of time.

I can't even imagine the state of this forum.

Doomsday essays written by mentally challenged people with nothing better to do clogging up the first 10 pages.

All with question marks at the end of the title, too.

There are also 4 teams from the Northeast in the top 8 in the East. Some divisions are stronger than others. Big whoop. It'll even out eventually. Remember, when the Central sucked? Now they don't. Things will change. It happens.

It was always my understanding that as long as you made the play-offs you had a chance to win the Cup. Who cares where you finish as long as you're in!!

Doesn't matter, people have this expectation that we have to be tops in the conference

Just make the playoffs, and anything can happen.

Canuck fans have been so spoiled recently.

OP, you say the East is stronger?
East versus West record this season 0-0-0

Stop whining and enjoy the season. You're the same type that comes out bashing the team EVERY year when we struggle out the gate and miraculously becomes #1 cheerleader by the seasons end. It's pathetic.

Yeah if anything the East is weaker by alot. Please refer to NHL.com and look at the opponents. We may be in the 2nd easiest division, but we are in the harder conference. I would rather play Montreal and Pittsburgh over any California team.

Exactly. A lot of teams would kill just to make the playoffs.

Ideally we finish in 3rd (there's no catching Chicago I don't think) and peak at the right time going into the playoffs.

Explain to me how being in the NW Division helped us on our playoff run, when we played no NW opponents.

Everyone is so sarcastic in their replies. Is that because you secretly believe he is right? I agree with him. The Canucks look very shaky right now. They need to win tougher games.

Mark my words, teams are going to start to take more and more liberties with Chicago going down the stretch. Hey it happened to us last year.

Simplistic.
4 of the NHL's 5 worst teams are also in the East, hence the teams near the 7/8 spot have a few more points than those in the West.
Regardless, the West is better.

That's what I'm hoping. I think they'll end up investing too much energy into the regular season and be completely burned out come playoff time.

All points are earned and deserved. They are 3rd overall in the conference, for now, and still trying to figure out their goaltending, defence and foward lines. We should be fine for the rest of the regular season but I cant see us doing too much damage if our lineup keeps changing. Watching AV changing foward lines and defence, and goaltending in last years playoffs was very frustrating. I dont blame the coach for it though because the regular lines just werent clicking at all. After the Sedin line we have plenty of good players but no solid dependable line combos. It is obvious that MG has to address this.

So you agree with me then. To the other guys talking about our team in the SCF two years ago. That was a different team.
Kesler is not the same. Erhoff is gone. Manny is gone. The Sedins are great but not where they were. All I am saying, is that now there is actual cause for concern. As opposed to two years ago when every crybaby fan in Vancouver were blaming Luongo for loosing the cup. Wait that was still happening at the beginning of this season.

Not so sure about you guys saying West is best. Of course this season we only get to find out in the playoffs. CHI, SJS, and Anaheim may be good but the East is stacked with, Pitt, Ranger, Philly, New Jersey, Boston, etc.
