Butters Stoch
I probably would've asked for a trade by now if I were in Ballard's position. As long as AV is here, Ballard will never play to his full potential.
wallstreetamigo
As far as Barker is concerned for whatever reasons you're looking for things that just arent there, except speed he is slow though you greatly exaggerrate it. As far as accountability, in a perfect world it would be even however as it has been mentioned in a few posts around here the differnce between Ballard, Edler, Bieksa is that Edler and Bieksa have earned their top spot and a bit more leeway. They also have a history of turning their game around really quickly.
theminister
In any business - hockey included - the best managers do their best to put all of their employees in the best possible position to succeed based on their strengths and weaknesses. Because that is how you ultimately achieve lofty goals. The Canucks are no different. And it is no secret why they have one good playoff run in 7 years. The coach - and this is irrefutable even by his biggest fans - does not get the best out of his entire 23 man roster when it comes to crunch time. Blame the players if you want but success is directly tied to confidence and opportunity......if you have none it shows.

canuck73_3
Barker is terrible. Ask Hawks, Wild, and Oiler fans.......... how did you like waiting for Bieksa and Edler to find their games in the playoffs last year against LA and turn that series around? Oh wait a minute, they didn't and we lost waiting for it.
TheCammer
hodgosn never said anything to media his teammates or even coach his dad and agent complained to MG and MG like a baby took it to the media to justify trading a really good player for a sub par player. and cory no matter how at fault our D are on a goal he takes full blame for every puck that goes in behind him... luongo is the one in the past that has come out and complained about his D infront on him and has thrown his teammates under the bus. ChuckNORRIS4Cup
AV just keeps a close eye only on Ballard and waits for him to make a mistake, then he has a reason to call him out and throw him under the bus. Kinda crappy feeling when you are playing the right way and your coach still doesn't trust you, and has nothing better to do then just wait for your 1 little mistake, and scratch you and some how have a reason for scratching you. Must be tough to play that way when your doing everything right, and you see other D partners making multiple mistakes more then yourself, but they don't get punished only you, horrible coaching. TheCammer
Examples of Luongo throwing his teammates under the bus, please? When he was captain and asked hard questions about the team he answered honestly. He also often threw himself under the bus that he had to be better. Kassian is far from sub par. And your comment about Cory, take out the name Cory and insert Luongo if you truly wish to be accurate. Schneider is getting the same crap from people on the CDC that have been hurled at Luongo for years. And if you truly want anyone to take your posts seriously and not the rant of a doofus try capitalization, spelling and grammar. They are your friend. wallstreetamigo
But Ballard has NEVER earned a shot here, you can deflect as much on the coach as you want but at best Ballard has been a top 4 player here which he got top 4 minutes for a brief stint and went back to having off games. Consistency is Ballards biggest issue and that is on Ballard not the coach, as much as you hate AV believe it or not he can't make Ballard play as bad as he has in the past. wallstreetamigo
I'm not saying Barker is good for crying out loud I'm just saying you exaggerate his skating.... LA had more to do with no Daniel and an injured Kesler. We werent scoring was the biggest problem, Not excusing Bieksa and Edler because they needed to play better. The only problem is no other dmen stepped up including Ballard. Stop blaming a few guys it is a team game.
5minutesinthebox
That does not change the fact that AV can be a childish turd at times ..
canuck73_3
I don't know what you do for a living but imagine playing a game like hockey the same way for many years only to be then asked to become the complete opposite player. How do you think you would do in your job if that was asked of you? Worse than ballard has I bet.
terrible.dee
How did we ever live without Ballard? He's just so GD fun!
5minutesinthebox
On the contrary actually. I have said many times that Ballard needs to play better and that he bears responsibility for not seizing his opportunities. I just happen to think that there are not many players who could seize opportunities that have been as limited as the ones he has received. I give him a ton of credit for completely changing his style to make an effort to fit what the team needed. Ragging on him for not putting up points or for not being a 4.2 million player is pretty stupid as his results are more a reflection of his opportunity than his skill. canuck73_3
lol.....but blaming Ballard - you know, ONE PERSON - is somehow different? Ballard was our only D who played well against LA....the ONLY one.
canuck73_3
Nothing is ever Ballards fault to you wallstreet, it's sad you can't look at things objectively because you do have some good points however your point is less valid when you keep blaming Ballard's short comings on his defense partner, AV, the popcorn vender and anything else you can use to deflect from the actual issue, BALLARD. You want to talk Kevin Bieksa or Edler or Barker or the popcorn vender we can talk about them in another thread, but this discussion is about BALLARD and what BALLARD can do to become more consintent and keep his spot on the lineup. wallstreetamigo
It was his play that granted him that limited opportunity. His limited playing time was a reflection of his play, nothing more, nothing less.
wallstreetamigo
DEFLECT DEFLECT DEFLECT You want to talk performance? Ballard Average time on ice 16:02 Barker Average time on ice 15:32 It took Barker one game to match Ballards production and he didn't look any worse defensively this season than Ballard has that is a fact. So if Barker is so crappy what does that make Ballard then?
Goal:thecup
Based on what though? Hamhuis signing? Ballard never got a chance to even earn an opportunity and that is not on him it is on the coaching staff and management. If he had been given a real fair opportunity to win a top 4 spot and failed, then I would agree with you guys. But honestly, he was never even given a chance to lose the job let alone win it.
