ALL THREADS MUST CONTAIN TAGS   All threads in this forum must contain tags prefixed to topic titles. The purpose of the tags is to eliminate confusion in recent threads lists, and to create an organized and consistent environment. Moderators may immediately lock and thread that does not contain tags.    Tags must be placed at the start of your thread title, following this exact formatting:    [Tag] Thread Title   Here are some of the most used popular tags:    [Proposal]
A trade, or trades, for next season, or even the off-season.
      [Off-Season]
FA signings, off-season trades for RFA's, UFA's rights etc...
      [Value Of]
(A question regarding a players worth, whether from another team, or the Canucks)
[Speculation] Posting a rumor (with a source of course), but providing why it could be possible for the Canucks to land that player.   [Discussion]
Thoughts on team trading strategy and composition.   Please feel free to create your own tag if none of these suit your thread.

Florida - Van trade that makes sense

Recommended Posts

Here we go.........At trade deadline

Florida trades:............ Brian Campbell

Scott Clemmenson

Erik Gudbranson

Drew Shore

2013 1st

Vancouver trades........Luongo*

Edler

Ballard

Schroeder

2014 1st + 2013 3rd

*Vancouver takes 25% of Luongo's contract from beginning of 2017 -2018 on.

Basically,I see it this way

Campbell = Edler in talent, Edler is younger and cheaper

Clemmenson= Schroeder

Luongo/Ballard + Picks = Gundbranson/Shore + Picks

Risk on both sides/rewards for both sides/Money somewhat equal with Van taking 25%

Florida takes more salary early ( about 3.5 million per year )

Sorry about Edler, just really tired of him not using what God gave him.........he(I) need a change!

If we can't win while Campbells here, it will be time to start rebuilding

*** Offer both Raymond and Higgins contracts after the trade , if they don't accept trade them at the deadline

Brian Campbell is the biggest detractor from my interest in this trade. His cap hit is simply too high and it's not like he comes of the books next year. That is why florida originally wanted him (to make it easier to reach the cap floor) but it is the opposite of a good thing for us.

Just do a Lu+Ballard+5th for Gudbranson+2nd trade.

Lu and Ballard both played fantastic in Florida so they know what they are getting, all at the expense of 1 of the dozen top prospects and an top 35 draft pick.
