î мцšт вяздк чфµ
Maybe now he can afford a whole head of hair!!!
Apples
Huge overpayment. There is probably less chance they will sign perry now
Edlerberry
Seems like they're overpaying him to compensate for not making enough the last few seasons, something like the burrows contract - except way way way way way bigger numbers. 7 tops for Getzlaf on open market, espescially after his ridiculously ridiculous inconsistent down year last year. MoneypuckOverlord
He signed for exactly market value. Was expecting him to take somewhat of a pay cut. But on his game, he is quite unstoppable.
shiznak
The Ducks have 14m in cap space next year. Plenty of space to sign Perry, if they wanted to.
Tangelos
wow and I thought the Parise/Suter deals were bad.... which they are, but still 8.25 which is almost Crosby money!
aGENT
Makes the Sedins look almost free in comparison!
Twilight Sparkle
so in anaheim, ryan getzlaf=sidney crosby
MoneypuckOverlord
So what was it his final contract year, he plays like he wants it, not like last year where he just dialed his effort in, and he gets rewarded with an overpayment. If he plays like this year every year on his contract, then it might be worth it, but right now not even close.

cmpunk
Perry is most likely out on Anaheim. They won't give him more than Getzlaf or even the same. Look for Perry to be traded.
D.Doughty
I do not think this is an overpayment. Tell me how much a big bodied #1 center in the NHL cost Better yet, name me 5 big bodied #1 centers
DownUndaCanuck
He's probably only got a couple of good seasons left in him anyway, but I expect this guy to dominate in the playoffs - that's where he'll earn his money.
SkeeterHansen
Why do people think Perry is worth more than Getzlaf? Getzlaf is a Center and has more career points. I know points aren't everything but I'm curious why people think Perry can get more money.
thad
This is outstanding!!! Lol. Division rival just royally screwed their contract structure. One thing I'd like to point out with his contract is he got the length and the high dollars. Just for fun lets say Fasth becomes a top 5 goalie over that 2 year contract he just signed. What do you do when he says I want rinne's 7mill and getzlaf's 8yrs? Lol he's your franchise centre and in your franchise goalie, pay up or I'm outta here! literaphile
It's a lot to pay, but there's no chance they would have been able to replace him on the open market. It's tough to find big #1 centres who can hit and score like him. Perry will sign - they're buddies and Getzlaf probably got Anaheim's assurance that Perry would stay too. spliced
A very recent 50 goal scorer or a centre with "more points"? Most teams have an established centre and just need a winger to compliment him. Making Perry very valuable.
brewdog
Seems like #1 centers get an extra $2M/per if they're over 6'3" tall.
DeNiro
I hope people appreciate Kesler's contract now. Getzlaf is the better player, but not 3.2 million dollars better.
