According to Ottawa Sun (usually i never believe Garrioch) new Blue Jackets GM Kikoleinen is working the phones to trade Dubinski. The new GM has been given carte blanche to do as he sees fit as he and Davidson arent tied to any deals prior to their arrivals. They consider the Nash deal as still hanging over their heads and still consider to have gotten fleeced. Dubinski is still set to earn 4.2 mil over the next 3 seasons, which has been deemed to costly for the BJ's.

Here is to hoping that our very own GMMG is taking note and getting in board. I am sure we all know the skinny on Dubinski as to what he can do....... Git'er duunnn

Dubinsky would be a great addition, no doubt. We would once again be strong down the middle, and would have line-up flexibility when Kesler returns.

But he would intensify our cap crunch at the conclusion of this year. 4.2M is too much for a third line centre. I'm not sure how he could be fit beyond this season.

Was he drafted as a centre or as a left wing?

Maybe a Booth for Dubinsky swap. Seems both players need a change in scenery plus both players have similar, if not, identical cap hits

I think we'd have to add a bit more but that would be a nice swap.

Booth + Pick for Dubinsky definitely sounds intriguing.

Booth has some family ties to Ohio so it could be a win-win.

Seems fair considering CBJ has Atkinson, and Johansen ready to become their top 2 centres. I don't think it would be enough though, and Gillis would still need to pull off another move to make this team a SERIOUS cup-contending threat

This. He would be a short drive from his hometown.

I like Booth, and his possession numbers are impressive. But it just isn't translating to the score sheet like we need it to.

Booth + 3rd + B level prospect. (Sweatt?)

He is exactly what this team needs as its 3rd Center. He can play 2 until Kesler is back has decent size 6'1 210 and plays hard, gritty with effort every night. I'd say he's a poor man's Burrows.

Booth for him should get it done and if needed throw in a 4th rounder.

If this is true MG needs to get it done.

Im thinking Raymond/Schroeder for Dubinski

Look... We're going to lose Raymond anyway at the end of the year. Might as well turn him into something. I am still partial to thinking that Schroeder will never have a proper spot on this team. He is not a 3rd line guy..... Maybe on other teams he slots higher but on this team, no.
For the time being until Kesler gets back I like to see B-Dub fill in between Booth and Kassian. When Kes gets back, dubinski slots down to 3rd or heaven forbid Kes goes there.

Well I'd rather lose booth than Raymond. Can't believe I just said that but MayRay in my mind has come back with more heart, determination and grit than I ever thought he had.

This reminds me of last year when there was legitimate rumors that Dustin Brown was available mid year when LA was doing poorly and needed a shake up.

I was screaming that MG had to do what it took to get that kid and he probably didnt want to 'shake up his character team'...

Well we all saw what Dustin Brown did when it mattered. Imagine that guy on this team now?

Duby is a hard working gritty player, something this team sorely lacks. A guy who'll put his face in front of a puck, he was a Ranger fan favorite for his heart and effort.

We NEED this kid.

Has anyone considered whether Columbus would actually want Booth? I don't think they would.

They're shopping Dubinsky because he gets paid like a top-6 forward but doesn't produce like one. Isn't that the same reason we'd be happy to trade Booth?

yup and that's why its fair...both guys could use a change of scenery. Booth has upside and clearly would be better suited to a more 'open' type game, where it isn't just d first and he can cheat a bit.

duby works well in a system like ours (see his play in NY).

its a fair swap

Fairness is irrelevant. Both teams have to want to do the deal.

Columbus is a low budget team, and are unlikely to take a chance on an overpaid, underperforming player. They'd be more likely to trade Dubinsky for cost effective assets such as picks, prospects or cheap roster players.

So the article says Cbj can't afford Dubinsky and the first suggestion is that we give them Booth?

Typical.

Columbus needs some top 6 wingers so I think they'd be happy with a Booth for Dubinsky swap

Umberger - Johansen - Atkinson
Booth - Brassard - Foligno
Drazenovic - Anisimov - Prospal
Boll - Letestu - Mackenzie

Healthy line up

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Kassian - Kesler - Raymond
Higgins - Dubinsky - Hansen
Sestito - Lapierre - Weise

Columbus is lookin good if they can add a 3rd line LW

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Ok so we'll give up less...hmm...

Think a bit buddy. As you said, he's underperforming. Hard to get rid of right? Well if they want a 4th rounder and Connaughton, or Weise, take em.

Some how I don't think that will get it done. And Columbus doesn't have any real scorers. Booth has had over 30 I believe twice? then some injury issues.

If anyone has a chance to hit 30 on that team it would be him. Worth the risk to swap for upside. Thats called asset mgmt.

Some of you are really overvaluing Dubinsky. Either that or really undervaluing our players. He's not worth 3 roster players.

It says right in the OP that his 4.2 cap hit is deemed too costly...

costly overall? or for his role? if he's playing 3rd line, yes paying a guy 4.2 million is too much. again asset mgmt. Just like us paying a backup 5.6 million is too much. etc etc

Why would they trade for a small center when they don't need one. And Mayray is a ufa at the end of the year.

Makes zero sense

So Columbus is trying to get rid of Dubinksy to relieve some cap?

CDC logic: Trade them Booth, who makes just as much and is an inferior player.
