For those asking for Campbell, I went to Capgeek and merely added Campbell to the roster for next season. Here it is:

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER

FORWARDS

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m)

David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)

Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)

DEFENSEMEN

Brian Campbell ($7.143m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m)

Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)

Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Alexander Edler ($5.000m)

GOALTENDERS

Roberto Luongo ($5.333m)

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)

------

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,546,208; BONUSES: $0

CAP SPACE (15-man roster):- $3,246,208

You'll notice that this is only a 15 man roster, and the team is already $3+ million over the cap.

Figure out which goalie you would prefer to trade, delete that amount from the cap, and then also figure out who else has to go so you can get enough players on the roster for next season.

regards,

G.

I'm thinking that the Luongo to Florida boat has finally sailed and he isn't on it. Him going there made some sense before the season started and there was a chance that the Panthers would be playoff bound. Now, not so much.

1.) If Florida wants to dump cap AND salary, why would they pick up Luongo?

Luongo does have a good contract, with a reasonable cap hit for a contending team. However, with the Panthers looking to be giving up already on this season and their goal is to reduce expenditures, trading for Luongo doesn't help them.

2.) Getting Luongo would be nice if they were looking to make some noise in the playoffs, not if they are looking to re-build.

Luongo could probably help the Panthers get at least as far into the playoffs as they did last season, but if all of the veteran forwards and d-men are potentially being moved there's little to no chance of this.

3.) If the Panthers are looking to re-build, how does moving any of their younger players and top prospects (Huberdeau, Bjugstad, Gudbranson, Shore, Kulikov, Petrovic, Markstrom...) help them get better down the road?

Luongo could help develop the team in general, and Markstrom in particular, but not at the expense of any of the Panthers' high picks, top prospects and good young players.

Otherwise, there's still a chance that TB could re-kindle an interest in Luongo.

regards,

G.

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/jeff-gordon/hockey-guy-nhl-trade-market-taking-shape/article_189c3d6c-4293-50e5-8ef2-f619868ae5b4.html

Kris Versteeg, W, Panthers: There isn’t much scoring help on the trade market. Versteeg has scored in streaks during his NHL career, but injuries derailed his season. His $4.4 million cap hit through the 2015-16 season will be a lot for the next team to swallow.

Brian Campbell, D, Panthers: Here is another highly-skilled, highly-paid puck rusher capable of posting dreadful plus-minus rankings. He is pulling a shade more than $7.1 million under 2016, so a bidding team will really, really need an upgrade for their power play.

Just speculation, but still... Two players I'd love to see here. Booth + Luongo straight swap

That is quite the small defence. I dont know why anyone here would sport wood to get Campbell on our team. He was NOT the straw that stirred the drink in Chicago. Sure he might help hold Garrisons hand to get 15+ goals but 7.2mil is alot to get that. I rather spend that on someone more useful like a Corey Perry if you throwing that money around.
