The value of the picks also increased because of that. We can get more return than usual.

If we want to Cup during the next few years we will be buyers.

If we don't want to become Calgary in 3-5 years, we will hold onto our picks and draft a real good young player in the 1st Round.

3-way trade with Philly?

To Vancouver: Thomas Vanek, Maxime Talbot, 2013 2nd (Buf)

To Buffalo: Roberto Luongo, Sean Couturier

To Philly: Ryan Miller, Tyler Myers, Keith Ballard

Philly then trades or buys out Bryz

Booth and Sauve for Jagr

Sedin - Sedin - Vanek
Burrows - Kesler - Jagr
Raymond - Higgins - Hansen
Lapierre - Talbot - Kassian

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Barker - Tanev

That top six could easily be better than Chicago's

Regier gets fleeced.

NOW THERE IS A CUP WINNING TEAM. Get it done gillis:)

Versteeg + Mueller/Matthias for Luongo+?

Versteeg is done. Got injured.

No reason to inquire about him now, not that he was ever a good fit anyways IMO.

Not sure if Gillis even views Booth as a problem anyway. More like a guy on a slump.

Yeah and that's how he should be viewed, not sure how people see him as a bad playere when he is one of our best right now.

I love how we go from "spectacular center depth" into desperately needing one.

Oh, Hodgson...

Also as a HUGE Versteeg fan, he won't be a fit here with Kesler and his poor offensive creativity.

And lol @ Kopecky being good.

Versteeg out for the season - shoots down all these stupid proposals.

Honestly Booth is one of our best forwards. Sure he's not converting and finishing his chances right now, but he's generating more scoring chances than anyone else on this team - the guy gets a couple of breakaways and hacks right in close every single game.

His timing is obviously still off since coming back from injury, but should be back come playoff time which is when we need him to be the best. Also, he's bigger and more physical than any of the guys you've listed to replace him with. Booth is a prime playoff winger, exactly what this team needs, and he isn't going anywhere. Here's our playoff lines:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian (bigger than Burr, protects the twins better, far better suited for the playoffs)
Burrows - Kesler - Booth (Kes and Burr have chemistry and Booth is the hitter on this line who can skate with Kesler)
Raymond - Pinizotto - Hansen (Pini and Hansen had great chemistry in last seasons pre-season and all 3 are speedy)
Higgins - Lapierre - Weise/Sestito (both ex-Habs have great chemistry and are amazing forecheckers)

Here each line has a big body that can hit (Kassian, Booth, Pinizotto, Lapierre/Sestito/Weise) as well as speedy and skilled guys. That's how you win cups in the playoffs nowadays - with each line the perfect balance of speed, skill and size. L.A had all these 3 elements right through their lineup, as did Boston. Every line had a big body, every line had a purely skilled guy and every line had speed.

This is why we need Booth. He is a combination of all 3 of those things.

Normally I disagree with you as you know.

But this post was great, I completely agree, Booth brings a skillset that we need in the playoffs. You nailed it here.

Although I do still think we need a 3rd line center, at this point I don't think Lappy or Pinnizzotto are anything more than real good 4th liners.
