CanadianRugby
We didn't have all of Samuelson for the 2011 playoffs. (injured to a whopping 3 points) You would have signed that 10 year deal for Erhoff then? Salo and Ballard are different players. One could also say Ballard throws a better hipcheck and is faster Cody is better then Shroeder, yes. Kassian is still a rookie. Kesler is injured, but hopefully his diving days will be done (not holding my breath) Lappy is being held back and maybe lost some mobility with the extra size. Wouldn't miss him either way Sedins need to realize the cycle is dead with clutch and grab back. Kassian on their line may fix that.

KeslerBEAST
we stepped away from the "no goon" thing to try to get tougher but it's still the same, everyone just gets pushed around and they still have the "win it on the powerplay" mentality but now the powerplay doesn't work. Yesterday Cam Barker got hit with a questionable hit and no one on the team did anything, how do you think that makes Barker feel? With the loss of Malholtra, Henrik needs to improve on faceoffs because right now he's just an elite playmaker that only gets babysat with offensive zone starts not an elite center because 1. he has sub 50% faceoffs 2. hes obviously not a 2-way center. The team is no longer a strong 5on5, strong powerplay, strong faceoff, and puck possession team while it would have been nice to have Samuelsson, it doesn't matter now because he's injured most of the time. He could make offense out of nothing and would score goals at the weirdest angles.
SergioMomesso
Why we're not dominating- PP 2 years ago-1st PP now - 24th PK 2 years ago- 3rd PK now-16th If we are top 10 in both categories, we would have squeaked out about 4 more wins at the least so far this year. MayRayDown
So in 2011 Hodgson 8gp 1g 1a 2p +1 > 2013 Schroeder 22gp 2g 3a 5p? Hodgson didn't even help the team until 2012
aqua59
For those fans that are patiently waiting for this team to be what we were two years ago. Then vs. Now Samuelsson > Booth Erhoff > Garrison Salo > Ballard Hodgson > Shroeder Torres > Kassian also Kesler > Kesler right now Lapierre > Lapierre right now H Sedin > H Sedin right now D Sedin > D Sedin right now No quick fix for this. Need to bring in better support via free agency and trades if this team is to be elite again.
37yrsncounting
Then Canucks had players who can handle and distribute the puck on the power play Canucks played much more of a skilled team puck possession game and skated the puck past the blue line Refs were willing to call all kinds of penalties until the SCF NHL was more about skill and speed Now... Canucks have players who can handle and distribute the puck that are half a second slower Canucks play more of a dump and chase and individual puck possession type of game, ie booth and kesler rushes, hansen and higging chippin the puck along the boards and chasing it Refs not willing to call penalties league wide NHL reverting back to the in your face, clutch, grab, and hold type of hockey

aqua59
Vancouver isn't dominating because they lack the drive necessary to get the job done, as a group. It's evident in every game they play. Simple drive and discipline would be evident in the players finishing their checks and not taking lazy penalties. This is a very talented group of players. Their skill just didn't disappear. I don't think a big trade will do much. This group, coaches and players need to wake up. To answer the original post question.
saint_lou
I think that Canucks as of late have become predictable just a matter of time to figure out how to surpise opponents with new style of play. AV said in his presser that he is exactly where the canucks expected to be. So now its just the time to make changes. We have a New PP coach too am I right? Hopefully he can shake up things. Not enough shots during PP

L'Orange
A trade to acquire a larger stay at home defenseman would be great. Schneider to Tampa Bay plus prospect or pick Hedman to Vancouver A trade to acquire another larger forward with scoring upside would be swell. Edler to Winnipeg plus prospect or pick Kane to Vancouver Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Kane - Kesler - Burrows Higgins - Raymond - Hansen Weise - Lapierre - Sestito Hamhuis - Bieksa Hedman - Garrison Ballard - Tanev Alberts The team needs to add some size and push back to compete with a generally larger league. CrippledCanuck
Top two reasons imo\ 1. Stale, predictable easily negated coaching strategies that do not evolve with opposing team strategies. 2. Inconsistent, uninspired, no urgency play by the entire team, to a very lesser extent the goalies who in my opinion are the only reason we have the wins we do. Strategy to change this 1. Trades and if that does not work; 2 Offer AV and his coaching staff a refresher course on coaching strategy and how to inspire and motivate players and or relieve the coaching staff of there duties.
