Hey guys I have a really bad cough right now.

My dobie silly sal trembles in fear everytime I cough. I was wondering what is the best cough medicine out there, that has codeine as the main ingredience. My boss gave me two days off so i might as well use it to just LEAN back and get better.

Please no buckleys, dextro or prometho as I heard there are dire consequences (RIP Pimp C)

Any suggestions?

Maybe you should ask an actual pharmacist instead of a bunch of people on a hockey forum.... you know, just a thought

Codeine phosphate syrup is available by prescription if the cough is severe enough.

That would be ideal, but it isn't prescribed very often.

Pharmacist: how severe is the cough
Me: not really severe I just want it for the effects!
Pharmacist: sir that's not very good..

Geez sorry my off topic thread isnt worthy for this hockey forum which has an off topic section. Grow up..... LOL

As has already been noted, if the cough is severe enough you should speak to a doctor (or at the very least a pharmacist). And get a prescription grade cough syrup (doctor's prescription required).

Otherwise simply go look at the available codeine cough syrups on the shelf and narrow it down to the one that also caters to your secondary symptoms (stuffy nose, phlegm etc) and get the generic version of whichever one that is (just double check that the medicinal ingredients are in the same or close to the same amounts per dose). Done.

FYI for stuffy nose you'd be looking for a decongestant, for phlegm an expectorant.

My RIP PIMP C t-shirt is in my regular rotation.

OP, do not make me get a RIP PIMP FRING t-shirt.

Also, there's a great tribute album by DJ Lights Out if you can find a copy. Not sure if posting links to those sites on here is allowed. Then again, I would've never thought to post something as blatant as the OP on here either.

I hate to burst his bubble then but OTC cough syrups aren't going to help him. He'd need a prescription..and I actually highly doubt any doctor is going to prescribe a codeine based cough syrup without a damn good reason.

Unless you have a RX from the doctor, you won't be able to get any cough syrups with Codeine over the counter. So what is the point of your post? Any cough syrups with Codeine as the main ingredient will need a special controlled substance RX from the doctor (especially if it is over 20mg/30mL)

Hahaha.... kids with little internet research. Codeine is regulated as a narcotic in Canada. You'll be hard pressed to pick up a cough syrup with enough codeine in it so get high.

Just get drunk on Nyquil and be done with it. Codeine is unobtainable except through a prescription from a doctor or..less than legal ways. That's it. And if you do wind up with a codeine based cough syrup...for the love of all that's good read the warning label and DON'T mix alcohol with it.

Wet cough? Dry cough?

My wife is a Pharmacist and I have got a bad cough right now also. She has me taking Benylin xtra strength for Mucas & Phlegm.

Seriously......go talk to a Pharmacist at the least they can advise you whether you need to see a Doctor or not.

I think this is the case where he would need to see a drug dealer vs. a pharmacist. From this thread, I'd gather that he is looking to use the cough syrup for recreational purposes instead of medicinal. Just google purple drank and you will see what I mean lol!

I thought it was common sense that you don't ever mix drugs with alcohol, never mind codeine. Also, doctors in BC won't prescribe a codeine based cough syrup unless it is a severe cough that might cause other side effects if not treated immediately. The BC controlled prescription program is very strict about these prescriptions.

It may be common sense to you and me but this is a guy looking for a codeine based cough syrup strong enough to get high on..inquiring about it on a hockey forum instead of in a more relevant venue such as...i dunno...webmd, yahoo answers or a similar place? So I naturally assumed common sense was out of the question. Want my advice? Stick to the organic stuff. ;) Seriously though man...you are in BC...around some of the best buds ever grown EVER...and you want to get your kicks from cough syrup? That's a ****in' sacrilege! ;)
