I was wondering what is the best cough medicine out there, that has codeine as the main ingredience. My boss gave me two days off so i might as well use it to just LEAN back and get better. aGENT Posted March 14, 2013 Share Posted March 14, 2013 As has already been noted, if the cough is severe enough you should speak to a doctor (or at the very least a pharmacist). And get a prescription grade cough syrup (doctor's prescription required). Otherwise simply go look at the available codeine cough syrups on the shelf and narrow it down to the one that also caters to your secondary symptoms (stuffy nose, phlegm etc) and get the generic version of whichever one that is (just double check that the medicinal ingredients are in the same or close to the same amounts per dose).
