AlexEdler11
Per Insider Trading tonight -Per Pierre LeBrun, Canucks have contacted Buffalo about Steve Ott. Thus far, Buffalo is not interested in moving him. -Mike Gillis has been calling everyone trying to get a deal done. Very aggressively pursuing a trade. -Per Bob McKenzie, Canucks may have interest in Derek Roy whom they feel would be the perfect #3 center for them after Kesler's return. Roy is an UFA this summer and has not discussed an extension with Dallas. http://video.tsn.ca/?dl=pipe42/latest/1/0/884948/clip/
-Vintage Canuck-
Canucks trade search Sources around the league tell ESPN.com that Canucks GM Mike Gillis has been very active making phone calls over the past 7-10 days, checking in with nearly every team in the league to see if there’s any fit for a trade. As we’ve seen with the lack of trades around the league, easier said than done. Vancouver desperately wants to find help at center. They haven’t had a No. 3 center all year and No. 2 center Ryan Kesler is out for the second time this season because of injury. Had Stephen Weiss not gone down with season-ending wrist surgery in Florida, I believe the Canucks would have got into bidding for the Panthers center. I’m also told the Canucks checked in with the Buffalo Sabres recently. Steve Ott would be a perfect fit as the No. 3 center in Vancouver, and the Canucks had conversations with the Dallas Stars last season about him. But at this point, it doesn’t appear as though the Sabres are making Ott available.
BlurTriX
He'd be a pretty good fit here in Van i'd say. He sure adds the toughness.
Tortorella's Rant
They need to go after a second line center then Kesler can play on the wing. If they only get ANOTHER third line center then you have a bunch of guys that can play on the third and fourth but only two guys can manage to effectively play on the first and second line. Legend Killer
I think Roy would be great with Kassian on his wing
TOMapleLaughs
Talked with Dallas about Ott last season. Now talking with Sabres about ??? PLEASE NO to any of their UFA crap. PLEASE NO to any of their overpaid signed crap too. But if it's indeed Ott, i'd be shocked if Buf gives him up.
MayRayDown
Well atleast we know Gillis is trying to get a 3rd line Center. Don't know why he always waits until the trade deadline to get one when we haven't had one all year
naslund.is.king
Not big on trading for a rental. Roy would not be cheap and he would be leaving next year for the cash
susraiders
I would love to add Ott to this team. A gritty forward who can win faceoffs is just what we need.

susraiders
I'm definitely interested in Ott, but I'd settle for Roy.
The Brahma Bull
It doesn't necessarily say that they called about Ott. That is a guess based on what happened last season at the trade deadline.
CookieCrumbs
Ott would be an amazing addition. BRING US OTT!
Apples
Love to get Ott on the team. Adds more toughness and skill onto the team
TOMapleLaughs
Really, we could use both. Roy's another diver, unfortunately. And Ott angers a lot of people. Ideal Canucks? Lol.
gogogomez
A 3rd line of booth, ott, and kassian in the playoffs would be pretty mean
TOMapleLaughs
Derek Roy has had some elite wingers to work with in Dallas, but it looks like the western conference is too tough for him. He's 'okay', but not great. I'd pass if they're asking for a 2nd or more. Ott is the guy who we really could use. And Ribs has proven he can handle the west. Ribs would cost a ton though.
