VMR
Hi All, I am taking my 5 year old daughter to tonight's game VS the Wild. I have never gone to a game with someone so young, so this is a bit new for me as well. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I have got ear protection for her to help with how loud it is, but any other tips? Her primary excitement is to see Fin , can anyone tell me if there is a place I can take her to see him there? I would love for the nucks to win her first live game. Hear that boys, get it done!!!! Go Canucks Go!
Scottish⑦Canuck
I can't answer your questions as I haven't been to Rogers Arena for a game since 2003, but I hope you have a great time. And that we win (I realise that I may be asking for too much, but we've got to get better at some point, so...) Enjoy the game.
Tom Sestito
If I was you, I'd take her half an hour early and walk around the lower bowl. He's always there taking pics. Otherwise your best hope is that at one point he walks into your section. Then you can hop out of your seat and get a pic with em.
MJDDawg
Get there early. I took my 10 year old son to his first game 5 years ago and he still talks about it. The Habs were in town and I remember sitting in our seats during the warm up and he didn't say a word. He was just watching the Habs Saku Koivu the whole warm up, tracking him as he skated around. It was a blast. Habs fans were all around us and they were a lot of fun. Plus the Canucks blasted the Habs that night. My kid still talks about it. Didn't use any protection (for the ears) and it was fine. Have fun. Edit: We also had a kids meal at McDonalds before we headed over to the arena. Cheaper than the food there plus you don't have to stress about what to get her to eat.

hockeyville88
I'm not too sure about whether there is a specific place to meet Fin, but he roams around during the game so hopefully he comes to your section at some point! There are some great displays and exhibits along the concourse of Rogers Arena on all the floors: Outside section 316 is the Hall of Heroes - it honours Smyl, Linden, and Naslund. It has their equipment, stories about them, and even Trevor Linden's locker room stall. Outside section 317A is the With Glowing Hearts exhibit - it's a MUST SEE! It honours the ice hockey teams of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. There are some great pics and videos and well as some amazing pieces of equipment used by the players on display there. Since your daughter is 6, I think she'll really love seeing Hayley Wickenheiser's gloves and Shannon Szabados's goalie mask. Might inspire her to play hockey too! Outside section 121 in Forever Canucks - it's an interactive set of video screens where you can pick highlights of the Canucks and relive them right there! Hope they play great and get a big win for your daughter tonight!

Quoted
Bathrooms are very crowded between periods so factor that in.

p0o0o0f
Leave like 1-3 min before intermissions to get food and crap(literally) or you can do it near the end of an intermission but you may miss puckdrop. There are fries in the lower section, they aren't bad. get a pocorn to start off, popcorn lasts a while. get the bowl and a canuck cup of pop or juice, drinks never last... pretzels are really salty. pizza I find overpriced, but isn't everything? Popcorn is the biggie though, it can last like 2 periods.

logic
Food is stupidly expensive, I blew (250 including my jersey)$50 on food last year when I went to the Red wings with my friends. and the merchandise is cool, but also very expensive. Definitely eat at home, or somewhere else, and get your jerseys, shirts ect at a retailer downtown. There's a place on Robson where we bought 4 jerseys, and a a couple of hats and we got a really sweet deal, and a whole bunch of stuff. As for the noise, it's part of the atmosphere but it may be a little loud for a 6 year old. Bathrooms, lines were pretty crazy, I wouldn't suggest going at the intermission, so 3-5 minutes before the period ends would be ideal. Also, if you leave your seats during the game you can't return until the next whistle Hope I helped! Also, regarding fin. Best bet would be during the warmup, and if you're sitting beside the aisle in the lowerbowl keep your eye out for him!

VMR
Sorry, I wanted to update everyone on how my daughter’s first game went, but have been a little busy. My daughter was so excited to go to the game that she could hardly wait. One thing she wanted more than anything was to see Fin. The staff were great and very helpful. They made the experience that much better. From the moment we got there, the people checking tickets and security were super nice, and when we told them this was her first game they made her feel special. They asked her for the tickets, scanned them and told her to enjoy the night. When we walked in to the building the people handing out programs were super nice as well, they gave her a program and she smiled from ear to ear. She was made to feel important. As we were walking around, a guest services person, (she was wearing a black jacket/vest with a blue shirt) Patti was her name. She was fantastic, she asked us how we were doing and asked if we had any questions. I of course asked her if there was a place we could see Fin up close. She smiled and said we were a bit early and Fin was getting ready. She told us there was no real place Fin would be in particular, as he tends to walk everywhere. However she looked at our tickets and took a note of where we were sitting. She looked at me and said she could not promise anything but she would see what could be done. She then asked if we wanted to see the warm ups close, we said sure. She lead us down to ice level, showed us to where we could go and told us to have fun and enjoy the rest of the night. Later on when we were at our seats, our daughter was watching the people in the crowd and seeing the players on the ice. She was truly having a great time. However, she continued to look for Fin in the crowd just to get a glimpse. Eventually she had to go to the bathroom, so went and tried to get back ASAP. As we were walking back to our section we saw Fin going to another, she was so happy she could not wait to high five and hug Fin. She waited patiently as Fin was giving stuff away in a section, and when Fin came down the stairs, he instantly waved at her and gave her the high five. She of course gave him a huge hug and Fin picked her up and she could not stop giggling and smiling. I took as many pictures as I could, although I don’t think I will ever forget how happy she was. Fin then gave her his autograph and gave her another high five. After that, one of Fin’s helpers came up to me and asked if we were from section 330, I said yes. She said that they were on their way to come see us as they had a note about it being her first game. They figured it was us because of the description. I was stunned and amazed of all the effort that was being made. Later after we returned to our seats another staff member came to us and gave our daughter a couple of plastic necklaces and said it was because she was special. That was the cherry on top. I have rambled too much. Anyway, Thank You again to Patti, without her doing what she could, our little one may not have seen Fin. A+
