Tangelos
Those players were demoted because they weren't playing well enough. It's called professional sports. The better you play, the more ice time you get. The worst you play, your ice time will be cut. That's what happened to Kassian and Schroeder. not sure why you think it's AV's fault for cutting their ice time down.
tas
No it's age discrimination. Edler has played like crap all season and was never scratched or taken off the pp. Raymond played like crap all of last year and yet still played on the 2nd line. AV has this prejudice notion that older players have to play more than younger players even though they may not deserve it. It's bs and it has to stop. Tangelos
Edler's a previous near 50 point, high performing D-man with experience and a history of playing well. AV has to play him to get him going. He has to play out of his "funk" (which recently we've seen signs of him coming out of). Some rookie with little to no experience or history at this level of play does not get afforded the same leniency. He quite simply has not earned it yet. Period. It's not age discrimination. Look at Tanev. He's slowly earned the coaching staff's trust, grown a history of play and performance at this level and in turn gets ice time. aGENT
well genius, how do you think rookies get experience??? BY PLAYING! And when older guys are playing like crap, young guys have to be given a decent shot. And your argument doesn't explain why Kassian was demoted. He was our leading scorer at the time when he was taken off the 1st line. And how do you explain Hodgson always getting shafted by AV?

Apple Juice
I'm not convinced we get this kid. I think he chooses to go elsewhere. Would be a coup for management and for organization if he did decide to sign with us. Is this kid a right handed shot? 'Cause we don't seem to have too many of those guys in our system/organization. elvis15
First off he's 6'8. If he's able to play consistent and smart defensive hockey, he'll be a regular. The main reason why the Canucks are very interested in him is because he has size, he can finally skate, he has a booming shot, gets pucks to the net, and HE'S A RIGHT HANDED SHOT I think if we did sign him, Gillis would ask AV to play him more because he's right handed and he's got size. Finally, a big defenceman that can clear the net and not like Alberts

prana16
Hodgson was a prima donna who wanted ice time over a Selke and an Art Ross winner. He's gone. Get over it.
Bodee
other than never actually acting like a prima donna .. but he is out scoring that selke winner by a pretty good clip right now and actually playing because he isn't injured all the time. But hey we made a good trade.. the kid we traded for was our leading scorer.. until he got demoted. Pure coaching genius . Hey hansen schred and raymond look fantastic out there.. tenacious wingers with a center that has the skill to distribute the puck .. lets demote that diminutive skilled center to the 4th line and make one of our wingers play second line center. .AV is a moron get over it. His handling of grabner, shirikov, hodgson, shredr and kassian has all been clown shoes retarded. Thats 4 first rounders and a skilled guy that was the leading scorer for the farm 2 years running that AV did his best to get shipped out of town. Our serous lack of skill past the twins is directly AV's fault and his inability to develop or use young skilled players.
missioncanucksfan
In the 6+ years that AV has been here, I have always found him to be a "work with what i got" coach. To him, if a player needs time to develope, do it on the farm. When you come and play for his team, he assumes said player already knows his stuff. With guys like Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, AV played the hell out of them in the lesser roles until they finally "Got it" and then progressed further. Same with Tanev. When Tanev got the call up, he immediately played within HIS comfort zone, didnt make the mistakes that got him banished. All while learning on the fly. Now come to Kassian and Ricky Schroeder.... Kassian started out flying and got his goals, got his opportunity and success with the twins. After that, it was Kassian who plummeted down the depth chart. AV has experimented with Zack in many different roles with many different looks on different line combinations. What part and when is the onus on Kassian to start "figuring it out". AV doesnt care about what you did in the past... AV is only interested in what you are doing for him now. Maybe im wrong with that assesment? Tangelos
And the more they earn that playing time, the more they will get. They do not simply get it handed to them regardless of how other players are performing. You have to "earn your stripes" so to speak. This is not new in hockey or just about any other walk of life. More experienced people with a history of success are given more leeway than people who are green. That's life buttercup. He was "demoted" because the twins weren't going. It had more to do with them than his play. You can not demote or bench the likes of the Sedins to get them going. It's stupid and both counter intuitive and productive. They've had success with Burrows so he was put back with them to get them going again. plain and simple. Really had very little to do with Kassian. It was a move to improve the team and last I checked Kassian alone is not the Vancouver Canucks, merely a part of them. His needs, desires, fans wishes or anything else do not come ahead of what's best for the team. Hodgson was a prima donna who wanted ice time over a Selke and an Art Ross winner. He's gone. Get over it.
Tortorella's Rant
You can't teach size. Everything else can be learned. Gillis, I swear to hades, if you don't get this guy I will find you and duct tape a sweat suit on you until you evaporate. This is the type of player we need. Big, great skater, excellent lateral movement, massive ACCURATE shot from the point. Go all in. He can't be worse than Alberts. DO IT!!
