I think what we are seeing is the 'Burrows/Kesler Effect'. Those guys also looked real good on the 3rd line against opposing 3rd line players but when given a chance to play 1st and 2nd line they don't fair as well. I think that Raymond and Hansen both fall into this category. Keep them on the third line where they dominate rather than giving them a promotion and being dissapointed with the results.

... Burrows and kesler did bad on the first and second lines? OH okay... in that case, yeah Hansen is defs not second line, he'd need to outscore Kesler's 75 point season to even be considered, cause you know, kes was doing SOO terribly trying to play against good checking lines. And burrows 28, 35, 26 and 28 goal seasons showed a horrible lack of hockey ability for a first liner.

Now I agree that people get over excited and say things about our players that are ridiculous (Kass is a top power forward). But with regards to hansen, compliments are very justified.

The Canucks don't really have a lot of, shall we say, "classic" 2nd liners. Booth is probably the only one that qualifies as a legitimate 2nd line player (injuries not withstanding). The ideal situation has a playmaking centre come in and Kesler moving to the wing opposite of Booth (Kesler is a great checking centre but messes up play chemistry on the offense). That said, the Canucks only have 1 playmaking centre, and he is on the first line, you have to make due with what you have. As such Hansen can easily compete with Raymond's, Higgins, Kassian, etc, for that 2nd line winger spot.

He's our most improved player this season, nice to see him take his game to the next level. Raymond has some what made a come back as well.. We need to make a trade though, we went from playing great to fighting for a playoff spot in the past month. :sadno: It's time MG, it's time.

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler

Hmm.... Gets points like a solid second liner, 2nd highest on the team in goals and makes 1/4 of the salary of our leading goal scorer. Back checks better than pretty much everybody on this team save for maybe Burrows and Kesler. Where on earth is the hate and criticism coming from!!! What we are seeing is a young player gaining confidence in himself and coming into his own. The game seems to be slowing down for him. He's doing great!!! Making plays, scoring goals, checking. He does alot of things that most players on this team don't do. It feels like his ceiling isn't even close to where it could be. If Jagr came here and had any influence on him, I bet his points would shoot thru the roof!!!

Yeah I would say so now he has become that.

What a steal of a 7th round pick.

Can you say 9th round? 3rd or fourth last in the entire draft!

I have to assume he is the latest pick in franchise history to play 100 games.

There are a lot of teams where he could easily be a 2nd liner. However I think he benefits our team more in his current two way 3rd line role. We can reserve the 2nd for better scorers, and consequently we have an unreal 3rd line that's gritty, hardworking and can easily chip in offensively.

The fact is, Raymond, Hansen and Higgins (when playing together) are our second line - teams playing against us, play us that way because they are our second most productive line - it's just that Booth, Kassian and whoever don't make a very effective third line - and our fourth line is not so great after the loss of Volpatti.

Larionov was later in terms of rounds, but not in terms of number of players taken before him - Larionov was 11th round, 214th overall.

I think he is this year. The key reason is, he SHOOTS the f****** puck. To many guys are looking for the perfect pass. Shoot the puck and get rewarded, plus he can check, skate, and has good vision. He might even be a first liner this year (maybe). Moral of the story is he is producing and works extremely hard.

i dont understand how people can watch kes give turnovers and skate slower than hansen, yet kes is a lock for 2nd line. booth is just as big a puzzle. whithout the hype i would say booth is a 4th line player.

a lot of our chemistry problems started when two injured players came back. guys like hansen and mayray were given support roles for kes and booth. the guys who were producing for us were given baggage to carry.

its gotta sting to get pushed out of the way, when your playing good hockey, for a player with a better contract who is not clicking.

Exact same thing happen for Hansen last year!!! One of our best players. Going for a break out year. Then (I think it was) Raymond came back from injury and Hansen got pushed down to third/fourth line effectively ending his break out year. AV has no class and the reason this team suffers. Players are fine but the team need stability, instead of new lines all the time. If it works don't fix it.

On pace for 51 points in a full 82 game season. He's become Mr.Everything for this team.

Burrows - Kesler - Hansen can be an electric line in the playoffs. Put Kassian with the Twins to help with the inevitable rough play.
