edit: I love how we call up friggen Gordon over an actual offensive threat in Jensen. I don't get management.

Why call up Jensen when he can only play less than 5 games? He's not going to burn a year of his ELC to play 20 games. that's just bad asset management.

Why would you call up an offensive threat to play in the bottom 6

lol. It's called depth scoring. How do you expect the bottom 6 to produce if they're just a bunch of plugs and grinders. You need at least one goal scorer in the bottom 6.

5 games with Jensen is better than any with friggen Gordon.

So 6 of 12 forwards are injured. Cool 50% of forward group down. Looks like the 2010-11 playoffs all over again. This team can't buy a break.

Better now than in the playoffs  lol jk

Injuries shouldn't be an excuse.

Yes, Kesler, Kassian, Higgins, Booth, and Malhotra are injured. But the failure to have only ONE prospect that can be called up from the farm is a joke.

Gillis has had more than enough time to shore up our depth. This ones on him.

Nope, injuries are no excuse and you know why? The Canucks still have the luxury of having their #1 line intact. A lot of teams that battle injuries unfortunately battle injuries to their top players (Ottawa this year with Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek and Pittsburgh a couple season ago with Crosby, Malkin, Staal) and only wish they still had their #1 line to help keep them afloat. The Canucks have a healthy top line, a healthy defense and two healthy starting goalies. All they're missing is forward depth. They should still be able to win hockey games, just maybe not as high scoring games.

The Canucks are starting to look like my kid's peewee team. "Oh Jonny can't make it today, put the backup goalie on the wing". Real deep team, Mike!

Except that Weise has played well the last few games and Gordon hasn't played an NHL game this season yet... But hey why let logic get in the way when you can just blindly blame the coach!

no team is going to be that deep to be able to fill these holes i said before ottawa was facing way worse injuries well seems like vancouver has officially taken over

kesler
kassian
higgins
booth
pinizotto
malhotra ( rare injury and how its being dealt with)

bieksa has missed some time so have to factor that in too

I still think Ottawa is much worse off. 1st line center, 1st line winger, Norris d--man, and #1 goalie........that is way worse than the Canucks who still ahve their top line intact, two starting goalies, and a full defence (that seemingly can't play proper d so far this year).

True, I mean the canucks have only had one line all season so far anyway based on how theyve played.. i find this predicament comical..

Next game we should put Fin on the fourth line and let him lay out some hits!

I'd agree with that I'm amazed at what the Sens have pulled off when most teams would just cave and give up. Great leadership in Alfredsson helps as well as MacLean doing an awesome job keeping the team competing every night.

there is no replacing those type of holes but they are fewer in number and the goaltending tandem of lehner and bishop have been good in anderson's absence no player is replacing karlsson but gonchar is doing a fine job returning to his glory days

i still think the canucks may have it worse since they have more holes to fill

They may even end up with home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Makes you wonder how good they'd be with Spezza, Michalek, Karlsson, and Anderson. Scary.

Of course Ehrhoff, Hodsgon, and Kadri would be ripping it up today...

Could use that depth right about now Gillis.

Of course Cody wanted to stay here, Kadri was on the table in a deal that made sense and was approved by everyone, and Bieksa wasn't a better choice than Ehrhoff.

As much as I like Ehrhoff that contract is stupid, I still find Kassians size is more of an asset long term, but yes Kadri would have been nice to have now for sure.

I wasn't for keeping Ehrhoff at that price. And if Hodgson wanted out that's fine.

What I do have a problem with is the fact that there's been no replacement of that depth by Gillis.

How could he not see that not having a third line center would be a problem? I mean come on.

Hey mate, gotta take your K-wings out of the wrappers before u compare NHL 13 and the real world.

We started the season with four left side D capable of playing on the top two pairings, at least one extra left wing, and maybe a spare goalie depending on who you talk to? Assets sitting is frustrating when we obviously have needs. It is fair critique.

I really don't think that my CDC title would impair my ability to compare things, I'm sorry I don't spend all my days posting on CDC? lol get real. :picard:

Yeah I guess we should give up some important players to our team, oh sorry do you mean our table scraps, yeah everybody wants those. :emot-parrot:

Again not NHL 13, those scraps do not hold any value, and 2 of those D have ntc's and a third has one kicking in next season, and I don't think management wants to get rid of him. So that would leave Ballard, a table scrap no one wants. :sadno: I do like Ballard and hopefully he can continue his good play and raises his value.

You need value to get things which are valuable, the rules of reciprocity.

I agree in hindsight it looks bad, however maybe for whatever reason Toronto is comfortable with their average goalies, maybe they got cold feet. Hopefully Gillis can pull something off before its too late.

We started the year with Burrows, lol. I think it's safe to say MG's strategy is known only to himself right now.

I'm pretty sure he is trying hard to get some depth and another center.

Although there isn't much out there on the market right now, for anything that makes sense anyways,

But most of those holes are bottom 6 so they are easier to replace with farm guys.

The difference in Ottawa right now is coaching and playing with heart........hands down.
