Two things!

First off, having played hockey for longer than some of you have been a live. I always admired a player who gave his all, yes they make alot of money, but they are people first, and deserve our compassion.

It wasn't like he was sitting in the stands having a beer and fell, he was in the play, and working hard.

And as I was reminded of today, Burtuzzi didn't do anything until he met up with Morrison and Naslund, then they sparked and became an allstar.

Would I trade him IF, I had a good deal. Yes! But come on people, give him a break, how would you feel if you hurt yourself at work and everyone said it didn't matter, you should be fired anyways!

Secondly, MG should stay on course, exactly how many teams are ahead of us anyways? Do I want changes, hell yes! But don't panic. That usually causes mistakes! If it isn't a good deal, let it pass, isn't that what you would do?

The Vancouver Canucks are NOT a better team without David Booth, regardless of what most of you say. This is more news of the worse kind at a time when the team doesn't need it.

Like many who know hockey have said already, the stat sheets and highlight reels are not all that there is to an NHL hockey game. Booth has provided the Canucks with lots of intangibles in his time here. People who call Booth soft are probably the same people who call Kes and Lindros and Mario and Wendel Clark soft, too, because all they do is look at stats. Booth, Kes, Lindros, Wendel and Mario all played hard all the time. They put themselves at risk for the good of the team and sometimes get hurt because of it.

David Booth will be missed.

Did you see the play where he got injured? I'm surprised it wasn't a MCL/ACL injury. He got lucky that it's 'only' a sprain.

Like a few have said, he added an element to the Canucks' game that isn't always present - a big body with speed who isn't afraid to throw his weight around.

Dude was in tears when he left Florida and has been riddled with injury ever since - cut him some slack. I sincerely hope that Gillis keeps him next year and they play him with a true playmaker (Schroeder?). Booth-Schroeder-Kassian would be a sick line.

For those wondering, I'm not religious and I'm against trophy hunting. I just think he's a good hockey player.

Booth was actually looking really good the last 5 games or so. If you didn't notice his skating, hits and power moves to the net, you are blind as .... If all you see is the stats sheet and the 3 stars, then you don't really know anything about hockey. They miss Booth right now and they will miss him the rest of the season.

Lost in translation I guess. I never said he wasn't injured or implied he was faking...just that sprains don't usually take that long. BUt hey, I'm no doctor.

For the record, I liked what he was bringing and thought he was just a game or two from breaking out.

Nucks (and Booth) having some bad luck this year. Of course, it could be worse...they could be Ottawa!

David Booth - Jordan Schroeder - Zack Kassian

Disappointed we didn't get to see this line go to work. On paper, it looks like it would have worked. You got Kassian that would have created space for Schroeder. Schroeder could have dished the puck to Booth in the neutral zone. Booth would have scored the goals bringing the puck to the net.

There are 3 degrees of sprains (ligament injuries):

1st degree - stretched ligament; not torn.

2nd degree - partially torn ligament.

3rd degree - ruptured ligament.

You're bang on about timelines, DIB. Sprains can last anywhere from a couple of days (your typical "sprain") to a year (3rd degree ACL / MCL combo). That's why he is out for "up to 2 months", right now. Could be sooner, could be longer.

Canucks won't come out and say what degree the sprain is due to LTIR dollars. The longer Booth is out for, the more LTIR money is banked for pursuit of another player.

Thanks.

I took a bit of heat for the comment about the advantage of the timing, though it wasn't meant as a slam on Booth. I could certainly see it being used to the advantage of the Nucks in freeing up salary and using that to bring someone in for the playoffs. Having Booth return once there is no cap, would be a very fortuitous bonus.

Not saying MG would ever do anything to circumvent the Cap. :bigblush:

"up to 2 months" would appear to indicate it's not a level 3. Let's hope so!!
