Well those guys wouldn't say anything bad towards the team or franchise. But we don't know what happens behind the doors. Also keep in mind its been reported that Datsyuk may play in the KHL after next season.

But I've seen Datsyuk still playing hard and he probably wouldn't play like that if he wanted his coach gone. Just speculation at this point but you would think it's inevitable that his time has to end soon

I cannot for the life of me see datsyuk as the kind of guy to not play hard because of coaching.

I like AV. He was a refreshing change for the team and he's done well (if not well enough to appease all).

But I also believe players eventually tune a coach out, almost all coaches, and Babcock could be the type of guy that makes a difference in the players mindset more than anything that can push them in a way that's fresh.

That said...

He's not going anywhere. Babcock would probably win Vancouver a Cup though.

Love to see us hire him, but I really doubt that Detroit would let him go.

If Bob Mckenzie said there was a great deal of friction between Holland and Babcock, then it would be more believable.

A Saskatchewan boy with some small ties to BC - captain of Kelowna WIngs , 82-83 .

A great coach and more.

From his NHL bio - Away from the rink Babcock is involved in several charitable causes. Most notably, he donates two tickets to each Red Wings home game to a child battling cancer and meets with him or her prior to the game. He is also a spokesperson for the Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation, which was created to increase awareness about pediatric brain tumors and provide education and support to affected families.

Looks like a MG kind of acquisition :bigblush:

Pretty sure he has a house in the Okanagan too, a few of my buddies have been there.

13 and 40 are done with him? Weird... wonder why, can't see those 2 saying that.

I don't believe it for a second, but if true I would kill to have Babcock coach here. He's my favourite coach in the NHL.

Hell I'd have fired AV for Ruff, Babcock is a no brainer. If there is any truth to this, we can feel good about our chances to get him. I mean we are obsessed with anything detroit after all.

Here's the plan.. Fire AV at seasons end to let Babcock know what's up. Get Babcock.. Lure datsyuk

The problem here is that these "sources" are also claiming that Datsyuk and Zetterberg have had enough of Babcock, so the lure Datsyuk part wouldn't follow.

This kind of $#it stirring and speaking on behalf of people, with absolutely no reference imo is absolutely worthless.

I may be biased, I admittedly love Babcock - not only a great coach, but by all accounts a really fine person - he grew up across the street from my wife - her family know him, that he is precisely as represented by his world-class reputation.

As much as I'd love to see Babcock coach the Canucks, I wouldn't fire AV - the only way I'd work this would be if all parties involved were interested in a coach trade.

Anyhow, I don't buy a word of this, from him being unhappy, to his players dissenting...

And not valid sources.

I wonder if this has something to do with Datsyuk saying he wants to go back to Russia?

Edited by Terry Crews, 23 March 2013 - 10:26 PM.

Looking forward to the draft and off-season moves. This team needs major changes.

Needs to get more skilled, physical, faster, younger.

Right now the trade rumours are so scant that even sports center is doing a piece on St Louis on the block.

Someone might have heard Babcock complain about Detroit traffic or some BS and ran with it.

But most likely people are just making stuff up so they have something to say.

And I for one want Dallas Eakins as coach. We are going to be going into rebuild in a couple years and Eakins is the best prospect developer alive right now. Oh and by the way, he is more available then Babcock.
