NP-4815162342
Well if all those rules he stated are true then yes Edler should of gotten a suspension but why didn't lucic a goalie is not far game if he's out of his crease
doobiedoodoo
I can accept the Edler suspension, but I cannot accept the inconsistency of how suspensions are handed or not handed out.
pimpcurtly
Regardless of what anyone thinks or feels, a precedent has been set. Running a keeper while he is playing the puck is unacceptable. In theory, each additional infraction should be an increase in games. Let's see what happens before we run Costco out of tin foil, Pepsi and Doritos. Strombone1
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 2. Most asked question of day: How can Alex Edler get 2 games for mowing down Mike Smith when Milan Lucic got zip for takin out Ryan Miller? Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Love easy questions. This one is a lay-up. Because, after @NHLShanahan didn't suspend Lucic, GMs told him in no uncertain terms he erred Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Lucic-Miller happened days before GMs meeting last year. Result was much higher sensitivity to goalie interference for most of last season.
Beluga Whale
Actually this is far worse and deserved nothing. Lucic had plenty of space to avoid the contact. Smith on the other hand knew what was coming, and moved almost right up against the boards to draw the contact. You can tell by the way Edler "squeezed up" (I guess you would say) That he tried to get by Smith and bowl right through him. This league continues to be a joke. If Edler gets 2 for this, Lucic should have got 4 or 5 and Nash should have gotten atleast 3.
puckluv
the goalie was interfering on the play the goalie was hurt previously by his own player who shoved Daniel into the crease (no penalty called) with the "unwritten code" yah ok one game suspension not 2 edler has no history so why 2 games? edler has been playing like crap, so maybe this is for the best

Peaches
Sounds about right for this league. On the bright side, we get to see a new 1st line PP unit tomorrow.

pimpcurtly
Well, it is certainly nice to know that "Mr Independent Justice" Brendan Shanahan steps right in line to adjust his "justice" when GM's come a calling. Does anyone really believe that the more influential and powerful teams don't have more say than others?
Captain Aerosex
Don't see why people are pissed. It's not bad, and it's not unreasonable. What's stupid is the Nash non-suspension, but that's a different topic. As for Edler now being a repeat offender...come on, Torres came just off suspension from hitting Eberle and already having a history and nailed Seabrook and didn't get suspended. Pouria
When you think about it, it makes Duncan Keith's suspension even more of a joke.

Pouria
Yeah, you make a good point. Regarding Nash, that was probably the worst no suspension ever. Hansen gets a game for reaching for the puck and Nash gets nothing for jumping at Kopecky from behind and elbowing him in the head, I don't know what's going through Shanahan's mind. Mr.DirtyDangles
Torres hits: 25 Games Duncan Keith trying to end someone's career: 5 Games Edler unintentional and accidental hit on Smith: 2 Games Lucic intent to injure Miller: 0 games For everything else, there is NHL. Pouria
Ok first off Shanny can go FRAK himself ! but if you think the hit was accidental then I question your sanity my friend. Edler clearly leaned into Smith and Smith totally sold that by whipping his head back. Everyone in the league knows that POS Smith is an Oscar winning performer when it comes to drawing majors for contact. Smith looked totally fine punching Edler repeatedly with his blocker right after the hit though didn't he ? LOL . Reminds of that uber byatch Hossa. Still think 2 games was a joke considering he was given a 5 and 10 in the game already !
CrazyAL
They should end this Shanahan experiment, they should have a board that decides suspenions. They try to look transparent with all of this but they look like idiots instead.
