NewbieCanuckFan
I guess what John Shannon is thinking is moving Ryan Kesler to the wing will allow him to use his speed/shot more to score goals by having Derek Roy dishing him the puck.
bobopan
He's not wrong in his thinking. Managment has admitted they've thought about moving Kesler to the wing. That said id hate to think what we'd need to pay to get him and i don't think were in any situation to re-sign him considering he's been asking 5 mil. Nino
And Roy being **** on the draw, we'd be used to that right? Why move a center - who's one of few we have that is good at draws - to the wing to make room for a center (who'd cost us more the get)? Getting a playmaking winger is what we need.... NewbieCanuckFan
No, the center has to pass to the winger before he can be a playmaker... Ryan plays like a winger so let him play there, why cry about it?
Nino
Have to get the puck first - and if you lose the draw, that makes it that much harder to do. Give Kesler two decent wingers for a period of time (Raymond & Sammy didn't score all those goals by themselves) and watch Kesler adapt. *AGAIN* centers cost you a premium; it cost the Preds a 1st round pick last season to pickup a *3rd line center* last year. Angry Goose
Id rather us put Kesler more in a checking role with powerplay time. Sedin Sedin Kassian Burrows Kesler Higgins Raymond Schroeder Hansen Sestito Lapierre Weise 1. I like Kassian with the twins, he performed well and can provide some protection. 2. All three players are speedy and hardworking, great for lining up against other team's top lines. 3. Speed, speed, speed. Schroeder has awesome chemistry with Raymond they should never have been split up. 4. Tough.

NewbieCanuckFan
If all Ryan is there for is to win draws then bring back manny, Well no we need a center that can play the position. Edit: nothing against manny he was great, but his days are done.

NewbieCanuckFan
this kesler doesnt pass crap is so overblown its not even funny. Go watch the olympics and him and kane dominating off the rush with give and gos. Kesler and samuelsson played very well together as well cycling down low. 3 of Kesler's wingers have had career years playing with him, that doesnt happen by accident. Only player kesler didnt pass to was raymond last year and he was a blackhole that felldown everytime the wind touched him. No fault to mayray but its the truth he probably shouldnt have been playing.
Nino
Like a former Selke winning/decent FO man/ centerman? You're asking for offensive centerman. How about getting a 3rd line center to take some of the defensive workload off of Kesler (so he's not worn out by the end of a season)? And leave Kesler as the #2 center. In your plan, we'd be STILL short that 3rd line center.

Avicii
Pretty sure every single cup winning team for the past few years have had some sort of trade deadline acquisition..
Legend Killer
Roy is a NOOOOOOO Unless we get him for cheap because next year he will want 6 million.
Kryten
It would be more threadworthy if John Shannon actually says anything that makes sense, for anyone.
Ghostsof1915
How about getting a second line center to take some of the pressure off the twins in the playoffs?
canucks.brad
On Sportsnet Trade Tracker, he said that Derek Roy would be a perfect fit for Vancouver. He mentioned Roy as #2 Center and moving Kesler to the wing. Why move Kesler to the wing? He's the #2 center. Not fan of Shannon or his supposed trade insider info. Believe it was Shannon who said Luongo to Toronto was all but done earlier in the season.

J529
How about signing Arnott for the rest of the season to be the #2 center. I'm aware that he didn't pass his physical with the Rangers. He would bring alot of experience, has won a Stanley Cup. Don't think he would cost alot for remainder of the season.
Hunter.S-Kerouac
This will be the most uneventful trade deadline in the history of any professional sport trade deadline. Lower cap, lack of sellers, deep draft.
