elvis15
The picks even it out a bit, but still Pitts is paying for a rental. Maybe they look at keeping him beyond this year, where some other teams wouldn't be able to.
Apples
If they get Iginla and Morrow, they will not win the cup
mcgillnuck
I don't see this affecting Iggy's value very much tbh. It was high enough already. On the other hand I'm thinking Clowe's value just went way up.
naslund.is.king
If a team is willing to pay a high prospect for an old and pretty much washed up player, what would they pay for a star goalie?
Smashian Kassian
They gave up a 3rd in the deepest draft in years and one of their top players for a B+ prospect and a fifth. They got fleeced, they didn't win
Nas19
No Pittsburgh gets fleeced. Morrow is washed up. A 3rd liner at this point, and he is a rental. Morrow is a very good prospect. Although the picks even it out a bit. Although the thing about the picks is, this just shows again how valuable picks are in this years draft, even mid-late ones. The other scary thing, is now that this has happened, other might want this to be the precedent for rentals. Like the Gaustad trade last year. TOMapleLaughs
Morrow isn't washed up though. And playing on Malkin's wing might mean a resurgence, y'think? Hell, old man Guerin did alright. Morrow will do just fine for them. It's their defense that's a bigger problem. I expect Shero to do something there too.
naslund.is.king
Pit does not get fleeced what so ever.. If they win the cup any move they made = success
Smashian Kassian
Guys, Pittsburgh totally gets fleeced, this is like us giving up Nicklas Jensen for Morrow.

Smashian Kassian
It's completely different though. Our prospect pool up front is rather thin. Pittsburgh's prospect pool on defense is insane. Even after this trade they still have Harrington, Maatta, Pouliot, Dumolin, and Despres.
nowhereman
Bad trade for Pittsburgh. Joe Morrow is worth a lot more than a third liner. Unfortuantley, this is the kind of trade that jacks up the price for every other deadline deal and brings everything to a stalemate. Remember Paul Gaustad? naslund.is.king
Maybe Dallas gets the player with more future upside and years to play but If this pushes Pitt over the top and they win the cup can you really say they lost the deal?

Phamda
Risky hockey trade for both. B. MORROW has struggled for the last year and a half. Only has 6 goals this season. Acquiring him to play with Malkin but Malkin is still out with a shoulder injury. It doesn't give them tons of time to develop chemistry before the playoffs. I think Neal took half a season to build chemistry with Malkin and is it worth re-signing him next season if they get eliminated? Pens still need to get a top 4 dman. They are having a tough time moving the puck without Letang. If the Pens don't make it deep into the playoffs, this could look like a bad trade for them. J. Morrow has struggled in his first pro season but was pegged as a top 2 dman at the draft I believe. I could see him getting time with the Dallas Stars in the NHL to finish the season but Dallas probably isn't a playoff team this year despite being in 8th. I think this is a fair
