Mrock-763
This is in no way a Raymond bashing thread... Should we keep Raymond and try and sign him in the off season or trade him while his stock is high? Raymond UFA 2.275 mil cap hit (age 27) for Steve Ott 2.950 cap hit (age 30) A young player with offensive skill and a good set of wheels for a hardworking gritty type player that's built for the playoffs? Good hockey trade? Thoughts? Steve Ott's playing style is kamikaze-like and is very pesky just like Burrows. Which is why they would make great line mates. Add Kassian to the mix and you got a tough line to play against. Downside to this trade is you break up the Raymond Schroeder Hansen line which has been on fire. How long will they continue on this hot streak? Will they have success in the playoffs? Highly unlikely... but you never know. Upside is you get to roll 4 lines that can contribute offensively and is defensively responsible. Also you get to load up the first line with your best players. Sedin Sedin Kesler - top offensive line with net presence Burrows Ott Kassian - skill, grit and toughness Higgins Schroeder Hansen - sniper playmaker grinder Sestito Lapierre Gordon - tough guy grinder twf Hamhuis Garrison Edler Bieksa Ballard Tanev That lineup looks playoff worthy Some notes regarding the 4th line I've been surprised by Sestito, he's been very responsible in his own end and can make plays. He makes the team play bigger when he's in the lineup. Gordon hasn't been too shabby either. While playing with the Hershey Bears he registered 21, 37 and 28 goals. He's got offensive upside to him and I love how he always finishes his checks. Then we got Pinizotto and Weise, two other players that can slot into the 3/4th line if need be. Tystick
I've always been a Raymond fan. I'd say resign him for a long term contract between 2.5/3m a year.
Sixteen W's
I don't think the last 3 games is going to factor too much in Raymond's trade value.

Phil_314
I'd keep him but sign him at max to 2 year extension to keep him motivated to keep earning his paychecks. This season his offensive upside is showing again now that he's paired with Schroeder and not shoot-first Kesler, those two should be able to do some good things together. Rypien37
LOL Ott is not a 2nd line player, at least not on a team that wants to contend for the cup.
Rey
It depends whether or not the Canucks think he is a top six forward or not. If you are going to pay Hansen and Raymond both 3 Million, then you have a problem because that's too much for 2 guys who are 3rd liners and unproven top six forwards. If I had to choose one, it would be Hansen easily. Then, there's Higgins. Unfortunately, it isn't necessarily who is the guy with more skill, it's the guy with more chemistry with Kesler. That's why Higgins should be re-signed. Raymond is the odd man out, imo. The only way, all three(the 3rd liners, that are occasionally on the 2nd line). Is that, Jordan Schoeder solidifies himself as a 3rd line center, and that the team somehow finds a way to get rid of Booth, Ballard, Luongo, and a lot more salary. It's also key, to sign a proper scoring forward. Real Lucky that Hansen has an one more year in his contract, so there's time but I've said it at the start of the season. Only one of Raymond, Booth, or Higgins will stay. Trying to move Booth will be difficult, Raymond may be able to land more money/better roster spot elsewhere, and Higgins will probably be the cheapest and has the best chemistry with Kesler. Add the fact that Kassian should be eventually getting better, and Jensen is stepping up. There's no reason to sign so many wingers for around the 3M. Raymond is probably the most expendable. ButterBean
I would trade him while his value is high but since he's becoming a UFA and we have no better options right now at his position I would keep him but don't be surprised if his stats take a major dip in the playoffs. Rey
Don't think it'll matter. Buffalo loves Ott, and is trying to re-sign him. Ott has much more value than Raymond on either team. Ott does everything. If Raymond isn't scoring he's invisible. There's plenty of guys who can play a better defensive/grind/PK game then him.
