I love how he can play all forward positions and is great in the shoot out, but a small, soft guy with 10 points on the season? Doesn't fill the needs of this team, especially come playoffs.

Only 5 goals and 5 assists in 30 games this year for Jokinen after putting up 46 points in 11-12, 52 points in 10-11,and 65 in 9-10.
he has a year left on his contract after this season at $3M/year.

We have to put a claim in, but im sure there will be alot of teams below us to aswell. he has decent post season numbers when he has played in the playoffs.

Would be a solid, free pick up if we could get him

11pts in 18gp last time he was in the playoffs? Capable of filling in as a center would be great depth going into the playoffs aswell.

He hasnt been used properly this year, they brought in Semin and J.Staal and they bumped him down. He had ppg in europe during the lockout, Id be willing to take him on no questions asked.

And he could help us in shootouts which could be the difference maker in getting home ice advantage and the #3 seed in the west

Also could help 2nd PP unit and I believe he can kill penalties

He has less production because he is not being played in the same role as previously. That is all. Still very capable of producing and being effective.

No way he makes it to Vancouver lol.

Sadly he will be claimed by the time we get a chance at him. I don't understand why they wouldn't trade him.. could have got them a 2nd or decent prospect from someone. Regardless of his stats this year, 163pts in his last 3 seasons is really respectable.

He had his chance to be used properly, the reason he got bumped down was because he's been playing poorly. Not because of Semin and Staal. There was space in that top 6, he just got demoted to the 4th because he's been bad.

I think I'll take the younger, significantly cheaper, and better Schroeder that we have now, thank you very much.

yea Carolina is deep in the Centre position and deep at the forward position in general. The Staal bros, Skinner, Tlusty.

So instead of wanting a veteran forward who has posted 60pts in this league and respectable numbers in the playoffs. You would rather not even try to claim him to help our lack luster scoring of late, nor improve our shoot out or 2nd pp unit.

Instead you want to rest all of that on a rookie in Schroeder who is on a hot streak now, but I dont expect him to keep his numbers up nor will he be a top 6 forward come the playoffs.

But hey, you have your opinion, I have mine,

Im all for trying to claim Jokinen and having stronger depth upfront. Seeing Weise and ballard being used on our 3rd line should show we lack any sort of good forward scoring depth

And because he is free and we gave up no assets for him we could use him anywhere in the top 9 and move him to see how he could play with Kesler, he is a versatile decently skilled forward.

Since it hasn't been asked, is the Canucks at their max 50 man roster? In other words, do they have a spot to claim him?
If there is an available spot, claim him. Good versatile offensive player.

If the Canucks put a claim on him I think they'll have a decent chance if getting him. Since he's got $3 mil left on his deal for next year I can imagine most teams, even fighting for a playoff spot, will pass.

If the Canucks don't put a claim on him they better have something else brewing or it will be a missed opportunity to get an asset for free.
