theminister
Canucks are sitting at 47 contracts with the sliding contracts of Gaunce, Corrado, McEneny and Jensen. Blomstrands contract doesnt start until next season, thus doesn't count against the 50 this year.
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
A few teams above us are at their 50 contract limit or are at 49 and trying to go after DeKeyser and Laginere. We're apparently a front runner for Laginere and we are at 49 and there are reports we are close to signing Tommernes, Not sure if Gillis will put in a claim and waive someone like Sestito hoping he gets claimed to give us contract space so we can still sign Laginere? mangosteens
Replacement for Manny for this season? Seems like a guy who can play as a 2nd or 3rd line center. 53% on faceoffs for his career. The fact that he is on waivers means that no teams wanted to trade for him...
Pears
Claim him Gillis! Not every day you can get a top six forward, who is good at shootouts, for free.
oldnews
Bizarre move. The Canes are nowhere near the cap - they have 12 million in cap space. Jokinen's underlying numbers are pretty good - next to Ruutu, perhaps the best on the Canes. 58.2% faceoffs, +6.6 relative corsi, 49.1% ozone starts, 51.6% finishes, faces decent quality opposition. Hasn't scored in 7 games, but really, what gives? Maybe a disgruntled aspect here? Find it hard to believe no one would give up a pick for him. Perhaps this is the fake Dregar account? Nope. Just bizarre. Everyone's gonna want this guy.

theminister
I'm really not too sure how many teams will put in a claim.... one would have to assume he was shopped a bit first, right? The only team below us in a playoff race I can see being very interested would be Detroit. The Canes seems to be a good fit though! I think the Canucks could have a better shot here than most are assuming.
topbananas
why would they waive him? surely they would get some kind of return for him......they must know he wont clear, at the same time, he wont reach us Im afraid.
apollo
Couldn't the canes GM get at least a 4th rround pick for him ... this is truly bizarre
Bodee
I would rather have pushback but he seems too good to ignore just now.
Outsiders
3 million is resonable considering all the things he can do... shootout, can play any forward position, powerplay and can kill pentilys
oldnews
If he gets past Feaster I'll be shocked.
Aladeen
Not sure why anyone would be against picking this guy up... the only problem is if he doesn't fall to us... otherwise if he doesn't pan out just waive him again, worst Case scenario he makes the wolves better for a hefty price tag... Sounds like absolutely zero risk - unless someone better goes on waivers after and we lose out because of position, otherwise I think he is 100% worth picking up... not sure why people are so worried about Aquilini's money getting spent? Nicklasjensen46
Could be a steal on waivers but the cap issue we are in I'd rather pass on him. Plus another small forward no thx. Plus don't think he will be make it to us on the waiver wire. Still holding out hopes for Roy or ott. Playoff size and gritt over small under achieving shoot out specialist
ManUtd
I have doubts that he'll fall to us but I really hope MG puts a claim on him. You can't go wrong with a free top 6 guy. His career average puts him around a solid 30+ assist guy. Not quite the playmaker we're looking for to play with Kesler but definitely 2nd line quality and better than what we have. Burrows has only hit 30 once and Booth, Raymond, Higgins and Hansen never have. Schroeder has great vision but his ability to play wing as well as match up against other teams' top lines is questionable. Edit: Bizarre move on the Canes part. If they wanted to get rid of him so badly I wish we could have just traded a 7th rounder or future considerations for him. It still would have been a top 6 guy practically for free but the Canes would have gotten at least something and we wouldn't risk him not making it to us on waivers. Everybody Hates Raymond
Chris Johnston@reporterchris I'm told there's been some interest in Jussi Jokinen from other NHL teams. He won't be sent to the AHL if he clears waivers.
