@mattsekeres: Our friend @Real_ESPNLeBrun tells us that the #Canucks have shown interest in W Ryane Clowe. San Jose wants a 1st rd pick & a prospect.

Really like Clowe, but asking price is too high IMO.

I would do it sharks are weak defensively they would proably bite on connauton or mcnally.. Corrado should be untouchable

Ryan Clowe has de-evolved into Ben Eager this season. You still want him for a 1st and a prospect?

Clowe on his worst day is still better than that punching bag.

HAHAHAHA no. I would give them Connauton + 3rd at the most. Don't give me this 1st round pick garbage.

Clowe for 1st, Schroeder, Ballard

Aquire higher first through loungo deal at deadline. If we can get Clowe I would be ok lowering my asking on Lou.

Floridas first would be nice... Even Washingtons might be nice

Maybe Connauton and a 2nd and a third.

Or Corrado and a 3rd and a 4th.

I'd like for Nucks to get Clowe + Pavelski if possible. Pavelski would be a great 3rd line centre. Ballard + Schroeder + 2nd. Meh...

Don't forget. Clowe is playing injured as well. He'll be on his worst days the majority of the time

Price tag for Clowe is way off, I can see the Sharks decreasing the asking price at the deadline. He would be a ok fit here imo.

Wouldn't trade Corrado at all. Would bump that 2nd to a 1st + Connauton to keep Corrado

If he can play like did a couple of years ago I would pay him a 1st and a prospect for sure.

He's a UFA next year

Might be able to get the Sharks to sign and trade him. If not, he'd just be a rental and the first would have to be conditional.

A 1st rounder and a prospect is a high price to pay for an UFA. If he was at least RFA or had another year or two on his contract I'd do it. But to pay that for a player who isn't having a good season and is a rental seems too steep.

Welcome to the trade deadline.

He'll likely be had for a 2nd and a prospect.

I'd give them Sauve and a 2nd.

Far too steep a price for an underachieving, injured, UFA who is making 3.6M this year and will probably want the same again next year.

Realistically, they'll get a conditional pick depending on whether or not Clowe re-signs. A 1st if he re-signs, a 2nd if he doesn't, and then a prospect which is more than fair. Don't think anyone wants to pay him to be a injured rental.

I would not mind Clowe but not at that price. He seems to be on the decline.

42 to 65 pts in each of his past 4 seasons. 6'2 225. If we had a good shot at re-signing him I'd do it. How many of our first round picks actually play for us?

My mistake. It somehow didn't register with me that he is an up and coming free agent. A first is a very steep price to pay for what some could consider a rental player (although probably not the case). San Jose must really think they have an advantage with so few guaranteed sellers at this point in the season.

I kind of have a feeling Gillis is going to trade for this guy. He's the exact kind of player Gillis wants. While he may not be very young, he's big and a physical presence, something the Canucks need more of. He can pot 50-60ish points in a season while bringing toughness. He's not a goon.

Keep in mind this average season means he likely won't get much of a raise.

I would take him on this team over Booth any day.
