Now that Boumeester is gone for another 1st round pick. The Flames re-build is in full force. Look to see Kipper go for another 1st rounder.

IMO, Feaster should use a combination of his first rounders and players to move up into a top 5 spot in the draft. CGY could use someone to build around, someone to be their true #1.

But if he doesn't, 4 first rounders in a deep draft is looking quite nice for the Calgary flames and their re-build.

I think they feel like Basetschi (sp?) is that guy to build around.

But obviously Seth Jones would be pretty good...

Isn't Calgary going to need to sign guys in the offseason just to hit the cap floor?

Somehow I can picture MacKinnon in a Flames jersey. Seems like a Flames guy.

i

Lol dumbest move. If they haven't traded down they wouldve gotten grigorenko.

Mark Jankowski is probably going to Patrick White.........a bust.........they can't screw up this time around right?

Grigorenko was actually drafted 12th and Flames pick was 14th before they traded down for Jankowski

Feaster gives us all his 1sts for Luo after they send Kipper to Toronto hahahahahaha!

I'd laugh if Toronto did talk Kipper into it though, and Feaster turned around and Luongoed.

Michael Backlund and Calgary's 1st

Huh?

Here's the punchline.

Aaron Ward tells us all that Luo to Calgary is a done deal...

Luongo tells MG there's no chance in hell.

We wait a few hours.

Luo goes to Florida.

Calgary now has a good jump on the rebuild.

What they need to do is to repeat the process again next year. Trade Cammy, Stajan, Stempniak for whatever future they can get back, and don't look back.

Buckle up, Flames fans. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Agreed.

What do you think they should do with Glencross? I have to think he could get them a solid return as he is a clutch scorer and prototypical deadline pickup.

You forgot the part where Chiarelli holds a press conference with the platypus and claims it was the Canucks diving and whining that caused the deal to not somehow benefit Boston.

I can't see him willing to waive his NTC as he signed at a much cheaper rate to stay close to home and his family farm IIRC

Maybe he would be willing to waive to go to Edmonton but can't see any other scenarios.

Lames fans have no clue what the value of their players are.

I read a hilarious comment at Calgarpuck saying the only prospect the Canucks have thats better than Agostino (who?) are Jensen and Kassian...

Berra, Cudari, Hanowski, Agostino = to Calgary fans eyes they see a big future for those guys. lol seriously try reading what the think those players could become.

Bring up Brodie vs Tanev and they'll say Brodie is %100 the better defenceman of the two. lol

I dont see this team going the direction of Edmonton cause their draft picks wont be as high. The returns they got from both trades were laughable, this team can't even re-build properly hahahah

I watched the Sportsnet Panel discussing the Flames last night and their take was that virtually everyone on the roster was available, with the exception of Gio, Brodie and GlenX...

I have to believe that they forgot about Sven and Backluind (maybe Cervenka)

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Should "have" traded him last year.

And yes, he should have. However, we were discussing the poor return he got from Pitssburgh this year. There seems to be some question as to whether he might have gotten a better return from the Bruins or someone else, had Iggy not insisted of the Pens.

Feaster could've at least tried to get one of Maatta/Harrington/Pouliot instead of those two no names
  • 0

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Flames could of had Maatta at the draft even after trading down but opted for Jankowski. Don't think their scouts were to high on Maatta or Ceci. Only positives that came out of trading down was getting a second and drafting Sieloff. Also Jankowski looking like he may actually have potential(long term).

Well, since Calgary looks like they will finish last or second last in the west this year, who do you think is a better choice for the Calgary flames? Drouin? Mackinnon? Jones?

Let's say flames get the #1 pick in this draft, who do you think fits best? I personally see Mackinnon being their perfect guy to build around. A future #1 center that you can bring into the line-up right away. Jones would be the second choice I think, he shows tremendous potential to become a Norris trophy type Defencemen.

Again, what do you guys think? I agree with one of the posters above, I can just see Mackinnon in a flames jersey.

it sucks, just when I thought we are done with one tanking team, (Edmonton) in comes another one. !@#$ sakes, they really should make the draft rules a little more harsh.

teams should not be able to pick first more than once every 4 years

I'm seeing Mackinnon as well, finally get their number one centre to build around. Jones being from Denver will likely be Avs pick.

Watching this fiasco I'm glad the Canucks still have their first pick and wouldn't be surprised if they [pick another first up if they trade Luongo. Gillis may end up smelling like a rose in the end after all. Look what they're competing against in their division.

To be fair, there is an entire legion of delusional Canucks fans, too.

That being said, the Flames need to just tear it all down and rebuild from the ground up. I find it laughable that they think they will make the playoffs next year.

In Feaster's defense? He should of traded him last year when he was coming off a 43g 86p season and a year left on his contract but now he waits until almost trade deadline and Iggy is old and is a UFA.

Should of traded him when his value was high not at it's lowest

You mean like how Gillis traded Lou when his value was high(er)?
