Far from it.

Not much offensive upside but a beast defensively.

Actually, he's atrocious defensively. He can't clear the zone to save his life. He's a replacement level player.

Iggy only wanted to go to the Pens.... nothing else could've been done

the Boston deal was pretty much done as Feaster & Weisbrod left the pressbox as soon as the Boston game ended, but Jarome said no

Johnny Gaudreau>any Casucks

Edler, Markstrom, Hansen, 2nd round pick 2014 to Islanders for Ryan Strome, 5th overall pick 2014

This is fairly even as well.

As suggested Iginla leaves Calgary for, well, not much. Notion Flames captain would fetch great deal similar to VAN dream that Luongo would

$6.620 Mil cap space before Iggy.

$7.0 Mil for Iggy.

Not sure if they get cap relief for injuries but they must be right up against the cap.

To the people bashing Gillis:

He's not in a position to do the sort of moves that Pittsburgh recently did without giving up our already thin future.
Be patient with Gillis because he will get us a good return for one of our goaltenders.

Oh gosh, its funny how everyone one of us were probably googling those 2 players.

So this is how it ended up...

Calgary trades their heart and soul for a 1st round pick, a prospect draftd in the 5th round 3 years ago, and a prospect that was drafted in round 3 4 years ago?????

What's Vancouver equivalent....

Prospect drafted in the 3rd round in 2009.... Kevin Connauton, since he was drafted after him, Anton Rodin, so Anton Rodin

Prosptect drafted in 5th round in 2010. Adam Polasek

So in Vancouver's equivlanet is our 1st round pick, Plus Anton Rodin and Polasek for Jarome Iginla?

Lets put this way, Calgary got screwed in the Phaneuf trade, they got screwed big time in the Iginla trade.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

So TSN panel just said Pitts realizes they won't be able to re-sign Iggy this summer due to their cap. Crazy. So Iggy likely becomes a free agent this summer. Where does he go?

Yeah because Luongo is a UFA that might just roll back to Vancouver after we trade him this year...

I don't even know if I can make a better team on NHL 13....

I hope MG makes a trade fast because we are falling behind. The 2011 Canucks got hot at the right time and reached the finals...I'd argue that our team in 2011 was a step ahead of most teams in the NHL but after losing Ehrhoff and Torres and improvements from other teams I think many teams have surpassed the Canucks..

Just the beginning. Kiprusoff could still go. Stay tuned.

I guess he missed the part where Kipper said he wasn't going anywhere. :picard:

The only thing better about this deal is that it is a guarnteed 1st (although likely 30th overall now).

The prospects are a serious WTF compared to Khokhlachev.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was thinking. I kind of figured the Flames wouldn't bank huge on the trade, but quality over quantity man! And a lame pick to boot! Not even one of the top prospects come back from the Penguin pool.

I am shaking my head on this one. Feaster fires self; owners donate Flames to charity. The butthurt has not even begun to set in yet for Calgary.

and I spelt it *acquired

I'm calling it now, Pittsburgh loses in the first round. Yes I know how stacked they are, but I feel like there will be a huge upset.

I'd say back to Calgary if the Pens win the cup and to another contender if they don't.

that d is very solid, wtf you talking about? Fleury just needs to be average. Will be shocked if Penguins don't hoist the cup this season

Letang is very good, but primarily an offensive guy. Niskanen is above average. Martin, Engelland and Orpik are mediocre. Murray is terrible. That equals a suspect defensive group.

The numbers bear this out. They're 12th in the league in shots allowed. That's not terrible, but not exactly stellar either. With the skill they have at forward, they should be better than that. Their defense lets them down.

I think they'd resign him if he brings a lot to the team, they would just have to dump cap, which they can afford to do.

Calgary really blew this trade. This was their big asset that they were going to use to catapult them into future success.....and then they get 2 college players who aren't even top 10 prospects for the Penguins and a late 1st. Common sense suggests that maybe if they would have waited a week a team would have gotten more desperate and made a move. Maybe, god forbid, they could have had a bidding war between PItt and Boston.

Man that Iginla is such a nice guy. As if the Linden thing wasn't enough, he goes and makes a fool out of Boston so we can all laugh at them. If he keeps this up he may get a spot in the Canucks Ring of Honor lol.
