I feel it was more exciting back then, I still have always been hooked to the 94 team, but the times your speak of they sure seemed more entertaining. I still have had one of the best memories watching this team, the Sedins #1, being able to watch these guys play is once in a life time, just like being able to watch Bure when he played amazing. But I fell back in those days you speak of OP I was more interested in the team, felt there was more heart and soul on the team then now. Ever since AV has become the coach of this team, I just don't find the team as exciting, and has caused me too much stress from his stupidty.

Trevor Linden Quote Nov. 29th 2012 [Asked if he would return to the game?]
"The game has been with me for a long time, if the right opportunity came about, you never know"

I agree, when Crawford was our coach, Naslund, Bertuzzi! I mean we were not the best team, but we had the loudest fans and we had so much heart and soul, I just miss that excitement, and that time!

not at all. of all the frustrating teams this organization has fielded, that was perhaps the most frustrating "good" era. the disappointing playoff performances, the lack of depth in the squad, and the godawful goaltending all combined to make the team both exciting but extremely disappointing. i'd much rather have the skill and grind of the early-mid 90s, or the depth and talent of recent years.

i miss bertuzzi. always loved him and always will. the rest of the team, however, not so much.

Yes, the early to mid 90s were probably the best years in terms of excitement, grit, heart and a measure of regular season and playoff success.

The WCE was a fun deal. I also miss Jovo and the passion he brought to the game (never forget that penalty)....sorry to see he's having to have hip (?) surgery and won't play again this season.

The Linden comment ^ - perfect. Heart and soul. I grew very attached to our '94 roster - that was also a great group of guys.

But I also do love this team - we'll look back one day and say "remember how awesome the Sedins were?...how Burr clicked with them and came through in clutch situations?"....he's right up there close to Linden for me. Bieksa will remain one of my all time favourites.

People who complain don't understand that there were even times that there was talk about the team being no more, moving, etc. I appreciate having this team to cheer for, period.

I agree to an extent Deb but I think what fans are missing right now is seeing a team that plays with hunger, intensity and emotion.

The 2011 team, night in night out, wow were they are tough team to play against. They could shut you down defensively, out hit you, outscore you, and most of all that all came from OUTWORKING the opponents. They never quit, they came back nights they had no business coming back, and there was a collective intensity and swagger that said, "you aren't going to beat us without a fight".

Somewhere, and I think it was game 7, the Lou ordeal, etc this team lost that. We are certainly not even close to the same team in terms of mix and depth and we can see that right now, and that falls ALL on MG for not giving AV the talent to compete, and he's done an admirable job with the tools he's been given (if you want proof look at last nights lineup and tell me that is a contending NHL team up front). Player mix and Depth is MG's responsibility. (Kesler is the only impact player missing, booth has done nothing, which is part of the problem and Kassian isn't established enough to be a 'missed' player, although I love his play).

I think fans are frustrated because we saw a team on the cusp of a cup, expected them to come back hungrier (teams need to lose one to win one right?), and through MG's failings, we now have a team that's regressing in terms of depth, play, effort and drive.

We're not heading towards a cup, we're heading away from one and as much as we are all fans its sad, because we can also all see Hank and Dan are slowing, and therefore the window is closing. I'd argue, its closed.

Being a fan doesn't mean you put on pom poms and blinders. If we are paying to watch a team, we have a right to critisize it, to look at what is a glaringly hole filled lineup and give our opinions on it, which often means stating the facts. Fact is, this team is not a contender, it has won against very weak teams in its conference, has litle depth, aging stars, and no significant impact players coming up (at least proven yet). To me as a fan, that bothers me.

I'm happy and content with what we have now. Of course, this year has been a roller-coaster ride for the team and a few debatable non-trades are downplaying this year. But overall, having watched this team for more than 20 years now - this is the most complete team we've had.

Consistent goaltending (cry all you wan't about a few games here and there), offensive firepower and depth like never before. Depth obviously has been an issue this year with so many injuries, but in the past we've been able to got past injuries pretty well. With all the guys I miss from the old days in Mogilny, Bure, Linden, Näslund, McLean, Jovanovski, Öhlund - we've never had anyone win the Art Ross, Hart Trophy, consecutive Presidents trophies before, even Jennings trophy. That says something about the team. The Stanley cup finals appearance of course included.

And in the future, we'll miss guys like Luongo just the way we miss Bure, Näslund & Co., and even more than McLean as he's been the best goalie we've ever had. And the Sedin brothers of course. No doubt they will have their #22 and #33 up there with the guys when they retire as your Vancouver Canucks.

i really hate people suggesting injuries are our problem

lets look at facts

Our defense, supposedly one of the deepest in the league and being paid around 25-30 million and two of the best goalies in the league, no injuries. Yet we're avg in goals against.

Our offense - only player of SUBSTANCE missing is Kesler. He has been the only player of those injured that has been a steady contributor to our offence. I am not counting Manny bc MG was aware of this risk.

Booth has done nothing as a canuck
Kassian is too young and hasn't been in a position to contribute yet
Manny - MG stated publicly that he didn't think Manny should even play this year but gave him a few games, he chose not to address a high risk situation by bringing in some depth in the offseason
Add in he knew Kesler was coming back late and didnt address that issue
So he had 2 centers before the season out of action yet he did nothing.

Other than that, what are our injuries?????

we lack depth and that is because of MG, not 'surprising injuries', we aren't the team from 2011.

the WCE express days rocked becasue we played in the hardest division in the league every night was a battle crawford had everyone in the lineup hitting and playing uptempo hockey .. since our division has went in the crapper so has the entertainment of our games most nights.. people wonder why we were out of gas bythe time the playoffs rolled around , look at the battles every other night we had vs a great colorado team and a very phsycle wild team really good alberta teams who both made runs to the cup during thoes years.... every night was intense

Those were the games when we had offense and attacked. Dam AV fire him already!!!!!!!!!!!
