Dan Cloutier was our goalie for so many years. He was an absolute beast in net for us during the west coast express years, logging time in the crease while we piled up the wins. I think he was just as influential to our success as Naslund, Bert, etc. My favorite memory of him would have to be when in a game against the Ducks, they crashed his crease & he absolutely lost his mind throwing haymakers left & right. You just don't see that from Canucks goalies anymore. I miss the good old days.. the Dan Cloutier days. Who here agrees? Please share your fav memories of this under-rated Canucks legend

this made me legit lol

i remember always being anxious and excited about clouts whenever someone went near him. never knew when he'd lose it.

Not nearly as bad as a lot of people made him out to be. Some Canucks fans expect their goalies to be highlight reel goalies every night, and rip on them when they are not. No goalie can live up to expectations in this market.

2002 playoffs & Cloutier let's in the center ice goal from Lidstrom.

The next year they finished training camp in Cranbrook just before opening the season in Calgary.

Watched them practice twice & both times Crawford would take a shot at Cloutier from Center ice & laugh when Cloutier made the save.

He has the worst save % in NHL playoff history amongst goalies who have as many starts as him. He was appalling most nights.

He was a good soldier for the team. Perfect timing for all involved.

Damn shame he will always be remembered for the Lidstrom goal.

Cloutier was sick. Toughest goalie out there. Not close to as bad as people make him out to be either, tons of goalies have let in shots from center or further away.

It was just bad because it was the playoffs.

People unfairly hate on him.

He was actually not bad. He was one of my favorite players at the time. (2nd behind Jovo)

I got to go on the ice with Cloutier when he came to vernon for training camp.

I won some draw, got to skate with Cloutier, Cooke, May and Crawford haha. Cloutier was actually really nice.

Dan was terrible and killed the team in the Detroit series with the Lidstrom goal. Unfortunately he was even worse in the Minnesota series the next year.

I loved Cloutier's personality and punchiness.

He scared the living crap out of me in the playoffs though.

A lot of the crap Lou gets is just a hangover from the WCE days.

Yep.

Met him when i worked at the Shark Club and he was rehabbing his knee.

He was very nice and accommodating. He looked ragged though at the time, maybe stressed.

Its not a joke.

Try a little transparency. Enough time has passed in which you should see how good he was for this team.

A big piece of the team. And loved by his teammates.

Yeah for sure.

There was like 40 of us who got to skate with them and he went to the youngest kid on the ice who could barely skate and started playing games with him.
